Nonpoint - Nonpoint - 2012 - Best Buy Edition



Thought it was a little screamier than Miracle, but went back and it seems about the same. Hasn't really grown on me yet, but it doesn't diverge very far except they've got a proper jewel case this time around instead of that dreadful paper fold out thing last go round. There's an extra 3 tracks, but no new compositions (1 remix, and 2 accoustic versions), and a dvd concert which I haven't seen over standard.

Heaven And Hell - Radio City Music Hall Live! - 2011



Recorded in 2007 this is a great package, bonus footage, video, sound except for one thing. Ronnie. I'm a HUGE Dio fan, and saw him just a few years earlier on the the Killing the Dragon tour where he was phenomenal. Not sure if it was the layout of Radio City Music Hall, but it just seemed like he was reading one of those damned lyric teleprompters. They also do the hide the keyboardist off the stage thing. I guess it's better than canned tracks, but still.

Interesting enough I guess there's a bunch of people (approved by Wendy) touring as Dio Disciples to include Tim Ripper Owens and Oni Logan, which fine vocalists in their own right don't strike me as a stylistic match. I guess Patrik Johansson was busy.

One of the best prog-rock albums ever to be released (my opinion). King Crimson is always in heavy rotation in any of my players.

Kiss - Monster - 2012 - Best Buy Edition



Was hoping for the 13 track version that I've yet to see, but the extras here are a holographic cover (ooOoo) and a year in the Kiss Army for "free" I think. I was hoping with Thayer in the crew for awhile now he'd bring some Black N Blueness to the situation and infuse this disc with more of the asylum/animalize/lick it up/carnival of souls vibe, but it seems to be olde school Kiss, analog recording and all. It's not bad though, seems better than Sonic Boom.

Not much new here over 2010's True Sound Of The Underground, except for some better production. Was hoping they'd progressed a little more in the past couple of years.

Eumeria - Rebel Mind - 2011



This came as an amazon recommendation, and I'm glad it did. This is probably the best debut album I've heard in years. Where Beyond the Bridge stubbed their toes on a couple of things, these guys sail right through. Hope they can start cranking out a series of albums of this caliber.
