I bought Koss Sparkplugs a week after i got my S9. Straightaway i was amazed how much bass they have. Even too much at the beginning, but now after 3 weeks of everyday listening, they sound clear, the bass became a bit softer, less, which i think is better, because at the beginning you could hardly understand the singers voice.....now no problems. Burning-in helped :P I use BBE Viva 2.
P.S: they provide GREAT noise isolation....you know the little annoying kids in the morning on the bus to school......they saved me ! :P :P :P |

time for an upgrade
i had ep 630 for about six months, i gave them away to my dad and he is enjoying those. now i wish to step up a ladder in IEM. Can experts here suggest a good upgrade to ep 630. i am looking in the range of USD 20 - 30. How is ep 830? is it better than ep 630 or below par? Appreciate your help Thanks

Hi guys,
Just bought a Clip to use when running and biking and already I'm ready to upgrade the ear buds to ones that won't fall out while doing these things. Are the Koss KSC75s my best choice? The clips look like what I'd need. Will they sound equal to or better than the included ear buds? Thank you for any tips! Geo |

Just received the KS-75s in the mail today and am very pleased. They sound much better than the stock phones with the Clip. Very happy for the price and they don't fall off off my ears like the others. Sweet!
A bit OT, I'm not complaining that these phones don't have a lot of bass, they were cheap, but I'm curious, if I ever upgrade to a serious pair of phones for the times I just want to relax and listen, do the more expensive phones out there have good bass response? Or would I be asking too much from my MP3 player? |

It's not a matter of price (cheap phones can be way too bassy as well), it's a matter of design and driver tuning. Closed headphones usually can provide more bass than open designs, like your KSC75.
IEMs are usually closed designs too, and some inexpensive ones like the CX300 or Radius Atomic Bass can deliver more bass quantities than one could wish for.

The most cost-effective way to get some more(not a ton) bass without sacrificing overall sound quality would be to use a FiiO headphone amp with your Clip and KSC75's like I do, IMO....unless you're looking for earth-shaking bass, which can often drown out everything else in lower priced phones. I don't think there is anything comparable for the price SQ-wise to the KSC75+FiiO combo, especially given that you already have the KSC75's. The FiiO E3 works great, assuming you're willing to deal with AAA batteries(or have rechargable AAA's like me) and it's like $10. the FiiO E5 is around $20, but has an internal battery like your Clip, and its own volume control, in addition to a selectable bass boost. One thing to consider though, in all fairness, is I can't wear IEM's....so my previous paragraph should be taken in that context. It's entirely possible there is a wonderful IEM in that price range that would suit your needs....I'm sure one of the IEM-lovers here would have an idea for you.

some on here may not consider these good but I have just placed my order for a set of the zune premium headphones version 2 (the kind that come with the zune 80gb or the zune originals sites' zunes). I have tried my bro's pair and they are better than the ones that come with the zune 120...
good deal for $40...

I purchased a new pair of ATH-ESW9's, from e-bay, for a great price. It seems many are available. They sound great with my Clip; I can't get over what I'm able to hear. If anyone is looking for new hp's, do yourself a favour and check these outs!

I'm looking for some open backed £30ish headphones. The PX100s would be perfect but portability isn't an issue so I'd rather something a little more substantial. I can't find those AKG K 24 Ps anywhere. I assume they're not available new anymore.

They look like the usual Skullcandy or whatever phones... probably an OVC/Ocvaco OEM phone. I doubt they're any good, judging by the other OEM variants I heard of those.

Picked up a set about a month ago. There were on clearance at WalMart for$16.
The sound was not bad. Very heavy on the bass. They were fairly comfortable but had really thin wires. The volume slider went bad after 5 days and I returned them. |
