Highs and mids are very present, and the bass is slightly bigger then most. They are nowhere near as bassy as the HD212's, those are bass FREQS!!!!

The HD201's don't clamp tight on the head at all, but you need a strong player or a headphone amp to really wake them up. They're much less efficient than other 'phones in the price range.

If the 202's clamp your head, I probably couldn't ever use them....I find that the HTX7's clamp a bit, they're starting to ease up though. Maybe I just have a large noggin

The HD202's are a bit more pure in the sq area, not as much bass. They have a more "studio" quality, but the mids are slightly recessed (could just be me). I may just be partial to the HTX7's over the HD202's. They definitely sound better than the HD212's to me, those have WAYYYYYY to much bass. I really don't use them at all (HD212).

I posted this in another thread here already, but figured I'd add it here too. Not sure if they have already been mentioned here or not:
I have been using Panasonic RP-HV278K earbuds with the Clip when I work out. They're cheap as hell, do a search on pricegrabber.com and you'll find amazon has them for $5.09. That's even cheaper than what I bought them for 2 years ago ($12). If you can't find them on pricegrabber, try just googling. The right side is longer than the other, which means you loop that around the back of your neck. One thing I really like is the cable is long enough to reach my shorts pocket or waistband where I usually keep my clip. Short cable length has always been a problem for me because of my height. I would love to find some earbuds of similar sound quality and price that have ear hooks though, these do tend to fall out of my ears if I'm running. They're fine for when you're stationary or doing weight training or ab workouts. If you have small earholes, you might be ok running in them though! |

Thanks, I'll definitely consider those. I'm really looking more at the clip-on/hook style earbuds though. Similar to:
Philips SHS3200/37 Creative EP-510 I'll update if I try either of these. |

Hello all.
I am looking around for a good pair of cans. I am considering the Sennheiser HD 202s and EH 150's and also the Panasonic RP HTX7's. All withing a few dolllars of eachother on price. The reviews on amazon are all positive. I was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction on these. Thanks Djini

how do you sound gurus feel about Grado SR60s?

I like the Grados. I don't know if it's the drivers or the soft foam earpieces that ship with the SR60's, but they are definitely not basshead phones. The tradeoff is crisp mids with sparkling highs. Great for acoustic and folk style music.
...I've heard that by fitting the foamies from the SR80s that you can get better bass response than the SR60's soft foam pads.

Yes, very dissimilar. I much prefer the Grado to the HD202's.

I just today got a pair of Grado SR-80s in the mail. Very nice. I've been listening to them all evening, and I believe I really like them. The KSC-75s are probably going to be gathering some dust.
Now I want to do some mods, like the removable cables, so I can have a short cable for portable use, and longer for sitting at home. |

A few months back, they were on clearance at Radio Shacks all over the US....$5.47 each. I got a ride to a 2nd store so I could get a back-up pair before they were gone
