A lot of people seem to really love 'em, but to me there's just....I don't know...something missing.
I got used to phones that have a fairly deep response..down to 15 or so they claim. These seem to have a roll-off that's somewhere around 80-ish. They also seem to have this peak around 3K or so that I can seem to equalize out. To my ears they're just not all that well rounded. Maybe I need to burn them in and try again. I'll give 'em one thing though...I haven't blown them yet. I've tried the three different Koss in ear thingies and have blown the right speaker out of all of them. All I have to do is swallow a couple of times and, POP...loose diaphragm. Don't know why they do that, but every one of them does. Not so with the JVCs. Also...I'm not all that wild about cramming anything in my ear. It seems that we've been here before. ![]() ![]() I know we've come a long way sense back then, but in a way we've wound up right back in the same place. I didn't like 'em then either. Yep..I remember when "stick it in your ear" was a bad thing. |

Hey guys, im making the jump from dealextreme $4 metallic iems to something higher quality. Definitely need something sound-isolating and with good bass. I hear lots of good things about the cx300s, but im stuck between those and the bass freqs and ep630. cx300s are most expensive, ep630s are $10 cheaper. What would you recommend?

How much do want to spend? What kind of music?
Here is my opinion. I think the JVC FX66's are good. I think they are better then the FX33's which sounded muddy or tinny depending on the song. I have heard from Eredor that has/had the CX300's and FX66's that they CX300 are muddy sounding compared to the FX66's. He even says the FX66's has a good amount of bass, too. Since I have the CX300's, I can not say that myself. FrododorF has a pair of the FX66's, and here is his review of them: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=32304 Edit: Plus, you will not have worry about fake CX300 or EP630 if you get the FX66's. Well I wouldn't want to spend more than $40, but the cheaper the better. Mostly listen to rap/hiphop and rock, but my taste in music is kinda everywhere (w/e gets stuck in my head). I like listening to the background of the lyrics, which is why i like lots of bass. Id like something that'd last a while so id be willing to pay slightly more if it is more durable or has better sound. btw, where would I get the air cushions? are they at best buy/circuit city at reasonable prices?

Circuit City has them for $37: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/JVC-A...oductDetail.do
If you buy them online on Amazon.com you can get them cheaper: http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HA-FX66-B-...7649330&sr=8-1 I have not seen then at Best Buy, yet. I hope this will help. |

Thats the thing, they're actually pretty expensive - I can get bass freqs, ep630s, and even the cx300 for $30 (newegg). The cx300 even has the $15 dollar off mir thing goin, so it ends up bein even cheaper. Do you still think the air cushions are worth the higher price?

Since I have not heard the CX300 or EP630s, do not know how good they are, but for what Eredor on ABi>> IRC has told me. That is why I provided the Amazon.com link so you can see the price there.

Ok so i bought some fx66s from circuit city to try em out and I'm pretty impressed with them. They were $40 after tax, but I found a place online (Adorama camera) that sells them for $24 with free shipping, and placed an order. As soon as i recieve them Ill return the ones from CC. Its a big improvement over my dealextreme metallic earbuds, and the base is just great. I also ordered some dell rebranded ep-630s from ebay for around $10, and they look legit based on the ratings, pics etc. Ill be sure to post a comparison as soon as i get them. Thanks for all the help guys

I just got a pair of Philips SHL9500s from Amazon for use with my Sansa Fuze and E250. Sound great and comfortable to wear for extended periods. Not too tight or too loose on my head. They look good too. $25 shipped.

I have some spark plugs and the bass drowns out all the highs and mids. Does anyone know of earbuds that are better than the spark plugs and cost about the same.

If you go to amazon.com, you can find the JVC FX66 cheaper then those Koss. I have not tried the Koss myself, but the JVC FX66 is great. FrododorF has a review on the forums, too.

I would say give them at least one one day, and if they do not sound good return them. I would still return them any way because those Koss from what I have read do not last, too. So it is really up to you.

Philips SHE2610 have interchangeable caps-mix match according to the packaging.
15mm driver is almost like the E10LP's-and the sound quality is similar. $29 for mine-may cost less in the US.

I don’t think burning them in overnight will make any difference, on some phones it could be 50 + hours before you’d notice any difference in sound. Personally I don’t burn in any of my phones anymore, I’d rather just listen to them and try to indentify the changes along the way.
