I have icons.....I just hide them 99% of the time. Here's mine with and without the icons...I think it looks much better without them, don't you? (Rockbox Utility pinned to the taskbar as of today.)

It's a desktop gadget, and I believe somebody uploaded it to another forum I belong to, but I can't remember exactly where. Definitely the best one I've seen so far though.
