When reading this thread, this ws a re-curring theme. I want to let you in a little secret

If you use Aero, you're using D3D. If you use the standard themes, you're using DirectDraw, in either case, it's powered by your GPU, but with DirectDraw using fewer resources. Aero uses no less CPU, and actually uses more resources overall (although it shouldn't affect a modern desktop).

Bottom line is, the "myth" that Aero uses less resources than the standard desktop is a pure fallacy. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I'm still using the same desktop I posted pages ago. Not worth reposting the pic, as it's nothing special.

@ jjrosaria...Sweet setup! Congrats and enjoy! What kind of monitor is the new one? - I am kinda shopping for one myself and may end up with a similar setup [I currently use a single 19" IBM supported 2 PCs]...

@ electron: Very cool robot...good luck! Does it have a name?

@ Marv: I feel your pain bro...what luck with new PC?

anyway, yes, my team calls the robot max 6 (its our 6th robot, duh ), but its nick-name is fang, because one of the mechanisms on the front looks like a pair of fangs.

It's an Asus VW246H... It's a pretty good monitor IMO as long as you change the hideous default setting immediately. It's no LED though so not as energy efficient (still dad pays the electric bill ) Colours are good but not as good as the high end LG, AOC and Samsung monitors that I'm seeing lately. I HIGHLY recommend it if you want a good, cheaply big monitor. The 1080p res and 2ms are great for watching vids and viewing photos as well.

OH and the stand is sort of disappointing. Limited angle support and no portrait orientation (which I want grrrr) If you don't need it though there is no problem..

With monitors and TV though, I'd say always try before you buy.. How I see colours may be different to yours
