@medion->wow that's clean! Mines kinda messy but still the same theme and background. I tend to find a good setup and keep it.

OK here is my current desktop. Yes it's obviously a Mac, but I do use anything but iPods (except Rockboxed ones) for my music players. Plus it is another Hong Kong at night wallpaper, but it is a picture that I took on a recent visit.

Note the blue icon to the right of the iTunes icon. This is DoubleTwist for loading anything but iPods from my iTunes library.

Windows 7. I've got that running on my Sony Vaio UMPC as well. Very impressed with it. The wallpaper for 7 is the same HK photo from my previous Mac desktop post.

I use Windows when I have to. Windows 7 is one of the best OS's Microsoft has ever made, but I'm finding some disturbing stability issues with it (But, it is the RC).
And hey, you should! Ubuntu can look as cool (and as ugly >.>) as you want!
Thanks for the compliment, though. I don't like OSX, but I do like the dock.

On my laptop I have a photo taken by Becky Correlli (spelling?) in Florida. She used her own telescope and a digital camera. Not some super NASA satelite enhanced digital image. She inspired me to get a much better telescope because this picture blows me away.

It's Saturn just emerging (rising, technically it was occulted) from behind the moon:

  • Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM @ 1920x1200
This system performs like hell and is completely and absolutely inaudible, with quite low temperatures. I sure am a new born Noctua fanboy... their fans and coolers are the best.

Too bad my external HDDs make more noise than the whole desktop.
How can you possibly turn off all those visual effects while having all those powerful graphics cards??

woah you're really holding your system back using xp 32 bit! Use 7 and turn the aero on so your GFX card don't have to render the windows, and it looks better in the process!

Also if you are using x64 bit tech you will experience far less crashing and alot better memory mangement and scaling. I am at my limit with the 2GB I do have, however I don't want to mess with upgrading it now. I have win2008workstation R1 SP2 x64. Works great. Only restarts are needed twice a year for updates. average uptime is 5.4 Mos.

For my needs, the GPU is for games - not for idiotic eyecandy that needlessly hogs performance and only makes Windows' UI harder to use.

Yes but it bogs your CPU witch handles the gui much slower then a GPU does. It's funny.
