So as an update; I messed around with an E380 at best buy tonight (I was there trying to get one of the last E475's, no luck) and I am now even more disappointed in Sony than before. As I expected, it is the same basic UI as my E345, but the build quality and the screen quality is no where near the E345. Clearly, they think that the only way to compete is produce a cheaper alternative to the ipods, unfortunately they didn't get the price and product to line up. I might pay in the $60 range for the 16gb E380, I would never pay nearly $100 for it.

I need a replacement DAP, but it won't be an E380 and I can't shake the feeling that Sony won't release the E580 stateside...

I am certainly not married to Sony. Do the Cowon players have podcast or audiobook functions? I.e. separate sorting, bookmarking, or auto-resume?

edit: I researched it myself and it seems that they do have bookmarking. Might be an option...

I haven't really used my player for audiobook/podcast functions so can't comment much really.

Default Europe online store that ship to Canada?

I am interested in picking up one of the Sony NWZ-e585.
I tried a couple of sites in the UK but they don't ship to Canada.
Any suggestions on any online stores in Europe that will ship to Canada?

Japan gets new S-series S780 (E580 Equivalent but it has bluetooth as well) as 32GB, 16GB & 8GB. Who is interested in the 32GB variant?

Yep, 32GB with Bluetooth. Profile? it's v2.1 that's all I could make out. Here's Sony Japan's website - http://www.sony.jp/walkman/

Well, I don't suppose those models come with selectable English menus, do they?

If so... I might be willing to swing round to pick one up.

The models that are non-Android don't have English as an option in the settings if released in Japan. And those tend to max @32gb. I'd import if it had English,...

I have a Japanese NW-A855 and indeed the UI is in Japanase only.

Fortunately it's quite similar to the NWZ-A845 and the Sony UI is intuitive as usually so that's not a big deal even though English or French language would have been appreciated for sure.

Also, you can't change the FM band, it's Japan only (76.0 - 90.0 Mhz).

So basically Sony decided that:
1) If you're Japanase you're not allowed to travel with your Walkman and listen to FM radio abroad
2) If you're a tourist visiting Japan, you're not allowed to buy a Sony DAP there unless you speak Japanase
...

I've never understood this, but why do Japanese-only products made for the Japanese market have buttons that are labeled in English?

Sony Japan marches to the beat of their own drum - they NEVER do the logical thing. And they really don't care what us foreigners think or feel.

I can't understand it from a sales perspective. The fact they dont sell a 32gb internationally tends to suggest they would make a loss in doing so, but how do they figure this out? I mean I find it hard to believe it wouldn't sell well, so why harm sales by withholding a product that could sell well unless they somehow know it wont.
