I don't know if this is how the player is supposed to function because I purchased it used from amazon, but every time I am playing music or the radio, the screen stays on even though I have the screen off timer set to 15 seconds. The screen also will only shut off if it is turned off by holding the option button and switching HOLD mode on. If it is turned off and a button is pressed without the HOLD mode active, the screen never shuts off unless turned off again. The battery life is great but it would be better if the screen was not on for the entire duration of every song. Any help would be appreciated.

You might wanna try this, I just checked this out. Switch on the device and go to your playback screen.
Option Button --> Display Lyrics --> You should have "On (Screen Always On)" Selected. Change it to "Off" (if you don't want the lyrics to display), or "On" (if you want them). On/Off both options should let the screen turn off during music playback. I dont know why your E465's screen won't turn off while playing the radio, my E474's screen turns off after a while though. |

If the screen stays on, even when set to turn off after 15secs, it's defective. Return it to amazon and get a replacement. Amazon is really kool about it,...

When you open the player, there is a orange plastic sticky film over the metal buttons. There were also little white square stickers on top of each button. Would these have any effect on anything had they been removed?

Could be,...but since you opened the player you've voided the warranty. IMO your on your own,...later.

Then giving us more info to work with helps. And opening it up won't allow you to repair it, unless your an electronics tech.

One of the buttons was messed up when I first got but I managed to fix it after opening it up. I wanted to know if anyone else knew what could be wrong on the inside to be fixed.

You must have crossed a circuit,...unless you have access to schematics to trace the problem it's a lost cause. Time for a new player, or just use it as is.
