Have you or will you upload all your music to the Cloud?

Sure, I would never have just the cloud for my music - it's backed up on physical media, too. Music is the least disposable media in my opinion. I might watch the occasional movie twice, or read the same book again, but not regularly. Some songs I've listened to 100s of times, though.

I left it overnight and it still has 500 songs to go out of 12000. Not bad for 19 hours uploading via a phone.

Now, now that's much too sensible. You're supposed to be moaning and whining about "there's no external card in the Nexus 7!" Dealing with a total of $10 worth of app and OTG USB cable is much too easy.

Just wanted to add this for those who think you need to root the Nexus7 to use external storage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcC7ri-kifo . Not the sexiest looking solution, but it works. If you do a little searching you'll find a lot more on USB OTG.

Very true. Myself I don't do that as of now, I don't really have any suitable place to put an off site backup.


My relationship with the cloud is with Dropbox for my course-work and files for the shooting club. I'm also using Google Drive for their online document editing.

If you have a Google homepage set you can click on the Drive link. That should take you where you need to get the info and install the software to get started. Try could also try googling "Google Play" or "Google Drive" or "Google Music".

I use yahoo search out of habit and didn't think a search engine would block or bury links to competitor's services. Now I know differently.

It's not so much that they block or bury the links, they just don't make them obvious. I find links to Google Play come up at the top when I used Yahoo to search for Google Music.

The links to Google Music aren't much further down but are given non-obvious titles. If you just skim the titles you'll miss that they're links that will carry you directly to the music part of Google Play. In fact most of the Yahoo results are to articles and videos about Google Music, not links to it.

Well, I'm impressed so far. All my files have been uploaded and appear as in their original folder structure.

Only downside - so far - is that it appears to have uploaded the soundtrack to a movie that was resident on my Nexus 7, but no big deal.

Oh, and if I use the wi-fi at my local mall (which requires an email log-in) I get come-ons from Russian babes on Google Talk and via email and assorted web pop-ups. I think they want money to come to Britain.
