It's my understanding that the Samsung is upgradable. You can see that some folks have had problems after the upgrade at the following forum (remember that people tend only to post if they had problems).

you can always get an otg cable to make up for the lack of microsd card slot. Not as pretty but it should be good enough.
Once you get some custom roms and kernels on the nexus 7 it completely blows away the galaxy tab.

Never heard of an OTG cable. I'll look into it, but my plan is still to get the 32GB Nexus 7.....

http://www.amazon.com/T-Flash-Adapte...ords=otg+cable they've raised the price a lot from when i bought mine (.83 cents) but the price still isnt too bad, although it may take like 2 weeks to arrive. you can use something like nexus media importer that doesnt require root or stickmount to make use of any flash drives you have.

I've had my 16Gb Nexus 7 since last August.
I have 9Gb free out of 14. something - don't think I've ever gone below this. I don't see the point in storing music on a tablet, or more than a couple of films which just get deleted after I've watched them anyway. Some games take around 1Gb or so, but I just delete those when I'm done with them. |

I can not speak for the Nexus. I can say the Galaxy Tab received the Jelly Bean Update from Samsung a month ago. Which I am using now, I like the expandable memory on the Tab which I am using a 64 GB card. I think it works pretty fast compared to other tablets I own.
The price on the the Nexus is about $50 lower on average. I am happy with the Tab 2.0 and I have a 7" Tab original as well. |

Ordered a 32GB Nexus 7 yesterday
!! Shipping and tax was ridiculously expensive through Google so I ordered from Amazon instead. Sadly though the shipping is rather slow and it may not come until next week . I will post pics when it comes.Feel free to help me out with Android since this is my first Android device. I'd be more than happy to hear about any tips on rooting....as well as cool tweaks and apps.

One tip: When you get it, it won't be on the latest version of Android.
Go into Settings-About Tablet and check for an update. If it doesn't automatically update, go into Apps-Running Apps and click on Google Services Framework, clear the cache, then check for the update again - it should be there this time (this is a good general tip for getting any update quicker). One App I have which is free but very good is PicSpeed Wallpapers - lots of high quality wallpapers for your new Nexus 7. Temple Run 2 is awesome also. |

You'll need a good Ereader app, also. I like Cool Reader, but there are lots more including Kindle, Kobo and Aldiko.

Thanks guys for the tips! I will be sure to check for a software update, as well as install the file explorer and an e reader.
I will install pic speed wallpapers and temple run 2 as well. I tried temple run 2 on my iTouch 4G and it didn't run well.....but it should work just fine on my Nexus 7. As for rooting....I may hold off for a while until I know the device is working properly.

I have Kindle, Kobo, Sony, and Aldiko on my tablet. I might have Nook as well if they sold to Canada. Why so many? My wife is the big reader in the family, and she has a Sony eReader. There's usually some free romance books on Kindle that aren't free (or available) elsewhere. McDougal: You may want a PDF reader too. Aldiko will handle them. Polaris Office seems good, but it was included on my Galaxy Tab, and I think it's expensive otherwise. And, of course, you could get Adobe Reader. I've found it useful to store User Guides on my tablet. Then I don't have to look for them when I need one. I find Evernote and Dropbox to be quite useful. Steve
