sony it is then but i have heard and read it time and again in this and other forums to stay away from the e series is it true?

The E Series is just fine. It's the newer A and Z Series that actually have the bad sound quality from the headphone out. The E and E Series sound fantastic. The F Series, that one I'm not sure of.

Yes, I had E and S series and they both sounded great.

in my country i can get the older a series so which one should i go for a or e or s? and also what i noticed is many people recommend ipod for sound quality but i compared the shuffle and clip plus side by side for a long time, with musics of diff genre but always something was lacking in the shuffle i was immersed in the music when listening in clip plus maybe it was the placebo effect so i did blind testing[had my frnd play the music for me thru either of the one without me knowing which] but even then it was the same result

I still own my Sony S639, and I luv it.

Now, that being said, just get the model with the price and features you want most. Bigger screen, smaller screen, longer vs shorter battery life, etc. The A and S Series are the more "premium" models, so just get what looks best and what you can afford. All sound the same really,...
