yeah i really wish someone would come out with some kinda remote that you could plug any set of headphones you wish into and that supports doggcatcher and poweramp. i would upgrade my phone in a heartbeat. as it stands my phone is for making phone calls and occastionally checking twitter/facebook/rss/tapatalk. i'll continue to carry around one of my mp3 players for music until battery life drastically improves drastically and i can change tracks easily without looking on non stock music app. edit i want something like this for android anyone make one? http://www.amazon.com/iLuv-iEA15BLK-...d+music+remote

Edit the inspire ain't a bad music player with poweramp and doggcatcher. Wish unlocked phones weren't so expensive can't afford to upgrade right now. I'm sure i could make a phone work. Just need to figure out if it's possible to a)disable notification and all phone calls but leave data on. and disable all other processes that might request sound. got it setup so that a long press of the up and down volume changes songs. edit again found a call blocker that automatically hangs up on all incoming calls but won't actually send straight to voicemail.

I hate @pple sooo much now. There will come a point where no one will even be able to take a bite out of an apple! They will patent the living daylights out of everything and sue the universe!
I think I need -/+ button control anger management ![]() Quote:
Though it was his own little project, you could always ask and see if he's willing to sort you out for a reasonable price. As for myself, there's a few shops around my area that specialise in repairing electronics and stuff. I'm going to print that guys plans off from instructables.com and see if they can carry out the work for me / Can't get a hold of my happy soldering friends. Though it was modded for his Nexus phone, so I'll have to make sure. Seriously I don't want to use anything else other than my phone for music now (only to get an upgrade in good time). I don't even want to use the Clip+, but that's for the gym regardless. The HD Desire in the end after updating to latest Jellybean and tweaking about so much has become quite an entertaining phone. Sounds like you're enjoying the Inspire a bit more now ![]() For me it's smartphones all the way as a primary DAP regardless of the shocking battery life. Now to sort this frikin controller problem out, I won't give up just yet!

Those ards-of-bast. Given even the slightest chance they would patent oxygen.

As for the screen protector problem just watch a You tube video on how to stick them on without getting bubbles ![]() Hmm I'm sure there's all sorts of phoney bootleg hardware out there, even ones patented right?? So I'm surprised someone anonymous from the other side of the world hasn't just flogged out a load of rip off 'modified' Ipod remotes for Android phones. Maybe Apple are just too scary hey. |

I don't use protection for my DAPs or smartphones anymore, I prefer to just be careful. Screen protectors also degrade the screen quality significantly.

I don't really think that SQ from phone's are as good as you get from dedicated DAPs. However they are good enough unless you're going to critically evaluating and AB repeating from a dedicated player. When going with Android, Power amp is a really nice sounding option. However! I did find the user interface to be quite bad (well that's my opinion) However, the stock Google play music app does sound quite nice to me (I have a samsung galaxy s2 and also have a Google nexus 4 in my hands). The stock samsung player however sounds horrible to me. Idk why but even with the same phone hardware, those different players even with EQ and all audio enhancements off, they sound different

The sq on smartphones is now equal to dedicated players. Times have changed,...phones have caught up. Go to GSMArena.com and read some reviews,...
As for PowerAmp, it's excellent. The UI, for me, is kickazz. The stock player is quite lacking,...

I can't quite agree (yet) with TDS, once BBE/Jet Effects are available (on both platforms) and I can have the same settings that my C2 has, and I give the two a good comparison, then I will likely agree.
I will admit that I can tweak PowerAmp on my S2 to sound as good as the clip+ (which is darn good!), but not as good as my C2 with it's DSP's working for it. But not everyone likes BBE or DSPs etc, so in this regard I would think yes smartphones have caught up with DAPs for sound quality. PS, is there not an app for BBE/Jet Effects for IOS devices? I thought there was...

TDS. Well imo phones can sound as good as a dedicated dap. however. If I have a choice then I would still pick up my dedicated player anyday if I'm going to be listening critically. But for a purpose of listening to something on the go. phones now a days can sound very good especially with quality players like poweramp as BruceBanner had said. the s2 can be EQed to sound very good but still when I pick up my Sony after. I go oh. this sounds a bit better than my phone.

For critical listening (oh my god, I can't believe I'm using this expression) I do prefer a dedicated player as well. It takes away all the little distractions a cell phone causes. This can include notifications, calls, and the temptation to browse the interwebs or play games. But, they pretty much can all sound the same nowadays. The Sony's, Sansa's, Cowon, SGP's, etc, there is no longer any brand of player that is better sounding than most smartphones. Using a dedicated device is just a preference. I do it, but not because of their "superior" sq.

Well I respect your opinion TDS. But to my ears still sounds different. Whatever keeps me happy :P Rule of thumb. When you're happy with it. Stick with it. Everyone hears things differently. Oh! and Hi marvin. Good to see you again. haha if you still remember me. Can you believe it's been 3 years lol
