Are magnets bad for players?

Thinking of trying a different clip solution to my C2. Have ordered this http://aussiemagnets.com.au/product/...ge-Clips-.html

Think if i stick the back with the 3M onto the rear of the c2 it will suffer any weird effects?

I carry all types of electronics including my DAPs and PMPs in cases that have powerful magnetic clips and closures on them. If those aren't affected in any way by those magnets something like a name badge magnet shouldn't bother the C2.

I don't know as that would be your best solution. That is a magnetic strip and a metal plate designed to hold a name badge in place on a pocket or elsewhere on clothing to avoid poking holes in the cloth repeatedly and ruining people's clothing.

I've used this system on name badges before, and while the magnet is usually quite strong and works very well for its intended purpose, it's not designed to hold the weight of a music player and may fall off, risking damage to your precious (and expensive) toy.

Still it's not that much money, so feel free to try it out if you want to but I think you're going to want something more secure like a physical clip or case with a belt loop, etc.

Yeh i am aware of it not being strong enough to carry the weight of the player, will see how strong the magnets are. Failing that I may take the idea and customise it with stronger magnets. I'm just a little sick of the huge profile of the krussell spring clip that i currently use.

I don't have the exact numbers on me, nor would I want to bore you with all that pointless math, but I do know from personal experience that a Clip+ will withstand the magnetic field generated by a standard NDT yoke, and those are strong enough magnets to lift 10 or 40 pound weights. That's a pretty strong magnetic field to lift that kind of weight.

I know this because I had mine at work for a while and one of the things we do when we're bored is see what happens to various items when we mag them.

As long as they don't use magnetic storage, modern electronics are generally not harmed by static magnetic fields (like from permanent magnets). Varying magnetic fields are pretty damaging though, so avoid spinning magnets, MRI machines, Tesla coils, etc.
