I think either white or black.
If you'd ever be in sunlight with it, I'd recommend white....heat is the enemy of laptops.

+1 on Asus I'd definitely go for that model, white. Asus is quality as Marvin said, I've got an Asus laptop from 09 and it's still working great except for a dead battery lol.

I've decided to hold off on buying anything for at least 6 months.

I've got access to a netbook if my laptop fails in the meantime. I was in a store today and played around with the Mac Book Air.. I don't really want one, couldn't afford it anyway, but would like something that light. In 6 months I'll have more money, anyway, and should have a better idea of what I really do want from a new laptop.

Sounds like a good idea to me. A friend of mine has an Acer ultrabook that is very similar to the Air....and was half the price. Plus it was touchscreen . Ultrabooks are a better deal than the MacBook Air IMO.

A nice thing about Apple and the MacBooks is, they set a standard for the PC world to follow, at significantly less cost. Likewise have been impressed with Acer ultrabooks, even including a DVD drive.

I think you made a good decision to wait a little longer especially with the next generation Intel Haswell coming out soon.

Here are some Acer ultrabooks....some of them are quite expensive, but they're a good choice IMO.
