Here in Wisconsin and many parts of the Midwest we are bracing for Winter Storm Draco. I like some snow in Winter but not this much at once. I can't decide which will be scarier, the blizzard or the blond wizard boy from Harry Potter:

Get some popcorn, a good drink, and enjoy Netflix till it all blows over. Then the shoveling can commence. Just remember to stay hydrated,...and no alcohol until AFTER you finish.

I guess it doesn't snow much in Winsconsin. In New York, a snow accumilation of 18 inches is very typical. In addition to what Darkside said, make sure to have a hugh breakfast. I find eating especially enjoyable when I'm snowed in. Most important, stock up on batteries for the flashlights and make sure you have a reserve of food and water for at least three days.

We got 4 inches of snow. I just about didn't go to work. They didn't plow the roads and I have to drive 50 miles. Just had to go 30mph the whole way and was an hour late for work.

I grew up in Minnesota, next door. 5 months of Winter (you get used to it), 2 or 3 feet of snow in the yard (fun to throw your dog into it and watch him disappear, and then see him bounding through it with joyful abandon), and 30 degrees below (or more/less) with windchill. The ice storms were the best, though--the streets and sidewalks becoming a skating rink and shutting the entire city down (you can drive and walk on snow, but a sheet of ice is entirely different).
Good luck with the weather, and make sure there's wood for the fireplace! |
