Default Error while storing MP3 songs

I own a PILOT MP-113 (4GB capacity) MP3 player.
I have stored less than 200 mp3 songs.
While the player is connected to my computer, I tried to store additional songs (from within the computer), or to create a folder, and got the following error:

"The root of drive E:\ is formatted with the FAT file system and can only store a limited mumber of items. Store the items in a subfolder, or reformat the drive using the NTFS file system".

What steps should I take to overcome this problem?
