Hifiman hm 801 quality sound...

Hi all i'm new to this forum!i have a doubt that confuse me in this period!i have the possibility to buy an hifiman hm 801 at 300 euros...i own an ipod classic i use with a bowers and wilkins p5...my question is:will the hm 801 improove my sound quality or the price isn t justify?should i keep my ipod 6g??thx all!!!

Pass on it and be happy with what you have, I wouldn't pay $50 bucks for that 801.

Buy a FiiO E11 amp and use it with your iPod classic. You'll have the same great sound quality & you'll have the same high volume. The hifiman 801 is garbage.

Dark side have you ever try hifiman?fiio e 11 will work great with my ipod,so it ll improove only volume or it makes ipod sounds better?

An amp does not improve sound quality but as you say it does increase the volume. That said, with low impedance phones or overly sensitive phones it can improve or eliminate hissing.

I wouldn't pay ONE Euro for that POS nevermind 300.

I'd rather buy a bag of potato chips and an apple, then listen to my Clip+.

Get a Sansa clip+ or clipzip, Rockbox it, use your amp, enjoy the great sq & high volume you crave. And the iPod is just as good as any other high quality player. The hifiman players are NOT high quality,...just expensive.

Edit: if you're like most of us, I think you'll be surprised what you need for portable use, at home needs should be different IMO.

Edit2: BTW if you determine that FLAC is a must for you, you do know that there's a FLAC player for ipods

There are FLAC players for iOS devices, but he has an iPod Classic. Rockbox supports FLAC though.

while I run rockbox and love it, don't own any ipod stuff. Although it's good to give him options ... hell a new ipod would be cheaper and better imo than the 801. But before one decides they need to go with FLAC, I say it's best to test for yourself and hear if it will make a difference to you or not. Too many peeps come here and say that's what they need only to find out later that they read that somewhere from some audiofart

The truth is, his iPod Classic is just fine, no need to buy another DAP, unless he has other reasons than sound quality.

If lossless is a must he should take whatever FLAC he has, convert it to ALAC, and just use his iPod classic. The classic is great.

Ah, but some are more technically inclined than others. When the Rockbox installer works on the classic I'll do it myself.
