I'm hoping to get a new laptop for cyber monday. But I'd rather not go out on black friday, might end up hurting someone if they pushed me in any crowds or anything.

I would really like to see one of these "Black Fridays".

This American "holiday" is sorta starting to spread here, with online retailers who have their bases in the US (Apple) doing deals.

But the way you guys talk about how much stuff gets marked down is intriguing. Guess it is like what we have - boxing day sales where all retailers get rid of the stock for the year, and also get rid of their Christmas stock!

I work on Black Friday Maybe I should put on a Bullet Proof vest just in case I have to go head to head with anyone!

IMO Cyber Monday is much better for all the things I am interested in, you know MP3 players and all sorts of gadgetry goodness.

I just check amazon deals, although if I'm in the US I'll stop by the local wallmart to see the crazy people who still buy stuff in those sales...

I will be shopping online. The deals have already started. I ordered a new 20" LED monitor for my desktop for $90, and a usb sound bar speaker for my laptop for $15.

There is no way I will go outside shopping in the crowds. That is nuts. Nothing but traffic, long lines, and stampedes.

This is how Black Friday works: raise the price slowly for a month or 2, then drop it back down to where the public thinks they're getting a bargain on the sale day. Whoop!!! Now you get a deal!!!

If I were to shop on Black Friday, it would be online. There's no way I'm going through the madness at the stores. Many people have lost their lives going through that insanity.

Black Friday is late these days.

Retailers are opening earlier and earlier so now even Thanksgiving is screwed for people (who have to work). It's not unique to this year, but it's getting worse, they keep starting earlier on Thanksgiving evening despite petitions to stop.

I avoid the big retailers like Wal-Mart because of crowd, but do go to smaller retailers like Office Depot. However, most of my shopping is done online.

Based on these ads I have seen so far, the deals are a big letdown this year. I may just wait until Cyber Monday to shop.

A major electronics store in the area has very good Black Friday, Saturday and Sunday deals, including many free-after-rebate offers. It is oh so tempting (and something of a tradition for me, unfortunately; although, one perhaps to be broken this year) . . . . As a sign of the times, the lines have shortened considerably the past couple of years.
