![]() This week, Google’s Android app store, Google Play, managed to surpass the 700,000 app milestone. It’s a huge figure, and it’s very close to Apple’s App Store catalog, which reached 700,000 apps in mid-September. But while the two competitors are neck-and-neck when it comes to the number of apps available, Apple is still has more downloads overall. At last count, Cupertino had approximately one-and-a-half times more downloads than its Mountain View opponent. Specifically, 35 billion downloads versus 25 billion. The Windows Phone Store is still much smaller, but it’s slowly but surely catching up to Google Play and the Apple App Store. It’s currently sitting at 120,000 apps, and Microsoft has made a few improvements which should help this number rise faster in the future. With over 700,000 apps, there’s a lot of things to choose from on Google Play. What’s your favorite app or game so far? [Bloomberg via Joystiq]

I'm curious as to how many apps are shared between the two stores.
