According to this, looks llike I'm 45.9 feet above sea level. Thankfully I'm not in zone A, but I still prepaired for the worse, just in case.

Well, I have my iPad with me, my Sony S639, and my Lumia 900. I also have a few real books & some magazines. I'm stuck @work for a total of 40hrs,...gotta do what I gotta do on my downtime. Especially since tomorrow might be hell!!!

I'm only 36' above sea level
![]() Wow the NYSE is closed for the first time since 9/11, hoping you guys come out ok TDS, Marvin and others ... IMO if you have a block (CBS) home, gas for water and cooking, a generator for pc and a chain saw you can last weeks if not months. We've gone a few weeks without power and that stuff made life easier. Edit: I'm off to go surfing again, impressive that it's still huge down here and the storm is up there ... still looks epic, some points here are 15' + faces ...

I think the only worry for me here, more inland than TDS and musichound, is if the power goes out. I got everything charged up, but the lack of hot water would suck....

I feel for those who may have been impacted by this storm first of all I have been there.
With that said. In the floods of 93 I lived 3 blocks from the river. I got flooded, went without water for a solid month. Everything worked out. I had water. I bathed/showered and washed clothes in the old way. I have been in conditions were I didn't have power for weeks summer and winter. Everything worked out. First don't panic. Second don't be stupid. Third avoid hording. Reallly trucks will roll, shelves well be replentished, needs will be addressed. Being stupid will only make it harder on you and others. Unless you have serious medical conditions don't grip! The safest place in any disaster is the bar. Really when has a bar made news being affect by some disaster. ![]() ![]() While living in a large metropolitan area like NYC and many living in apartments at that. It is hard to have a generator. I would recommend having stored water and batteries. I have a Milwaukee Job radio and managed well for a week without power on one. It has a 12v DC port for charging cellphones, and other electronic gear. Mp3 port Weather and AM/FM. Runnings for about 12 hrs continual use (Cranked pumping 44w on one 18v tool battery). Since I am in the business of using power tools I always have batteries. I have the accessory flashligh that can run for a 40 work week if need be on one battery. The radio was free to me but runs about $100 and batteries around $90 each. Bosch, DeWalt and Rigid have simular set ups as well. While this may be a little late on this one you might think of getting one for the future. An emergency radio is great but this radio charges my devices. Those to don't live in such urban areas always have their car to charge there devices when the power is out. |

The winds are a lot stronger now than they were this morning. It seems to be getting worse. But I still have electricity
, along with most of my town.
