Dirty Fuze Port

Lately I've been having issues being able to connect my fuze with the usb cable it comes with. I think the problem is the fuzes specialized usb port. It looks quite dirty so that is most likely the problem. So I'm just wondering how to go about cleaning a port like that. If anyone has had a similar problem or knows of a way to clean it safely and effectively, please respond.

You need a good contact cleaner to clean electronics. You can find them on the net or even at the shack, just google it. Most are fast drying, non-conductive, fine around plastics, non-corrosive, etc…

I've found the easiest way for me to clean my electronics with contact cleaner is to take them apart first but I've yet to do a small port that can not be disassembled. So far I've gotten away using micro/miniature cleaning tools to clean my ports, there's all kinds of micro tools out there. Mine are vacuum cleaner run, available at sears or on the net ....

Other than contact cleaner. Try dipping an unplugged cord into Iso. Alchohol and insert and reinsert a few times. It works for headphone jacks.

Might want to blow out any pocket lint, nose-hairs or other schmutz from the port first before spraying something wet like electrical contact cleaner in there. You can buy canned compressed air at any office supply or computer-oriented store. It's the stuff they sell to clean all the crumbs, sesame seeds and paper clips from under the buttons on a keyboard.

Problem is though, this can drive the offending foreign substances/objects/dust-bunnies further into the device up around the circuit board and scroll wheel area. Not really good either. So be careful or take it apart gently for a more thorough cleaning.
