I'm not saying it's a great player but it would at least be different. Vanilla ice cream can be a nice change of pace if all you've had is strawberry, yes? I've never even laid eyes on one much less heard one so just the novelty would make it interesting. It does at least sound decent, doesn't it?

Thanks Steve, I thought I had read somewhere the battery life was 18, not 16 hours. An extra hour's runtime could probably be taken up by having the screen on a few more minutes so it's probably not much different overall.

I also hadn't noticed the battery life figures are based 128 kbps WMA playback. It drops to 14 hours using the same bitrate MP3s. The MP3 figure would be the one I would need to use. I have some old, low bitrate wma files but they don't get listened to much now. I sure wouldn't be taking up limited disk space on a portable player with them.

That's debatable. (French ) Vanilla ice cream vs strawberry is only a question of personal tastes. Although personal tastes can be considered in the choice of a DAP, there are also objective points making a player better than another.

That's why I would say without any doubt Clip series > Samsung U series > Sony B series.
So if you really want something different, just get a U series

Well, my point is I want a quality MP3 player in a small form factor that's NOT a clip/clip+/zip. I'd gladly take the Samsung U Series with a micro sd card slot,...same as a Sony or iriver.

Archos Key: Quality (made in France), beautiful design, awesome SQ, ultra intuitive UI, incredible 96*40 LCD screen and..... microSD slot!!!

Ok next one?

Hey!!! I never saw that before!!! Me want,...but that damn French created EU volume cap sux!!!

K, I checked reviews: the volume is low, sq sux (an Archos trait, battery life is crap, etc). This thing is horrid compared to a Sony B Series, Samsung U Series, or iriver gum stick player. Yuk!!!

I just worked out a deal with a co-worker....trading him a wall USB charger for a 4GB Clip Zip. I sold the Zip to him a while back for $25 but he's never used it, because all his music is on the 8GB Clip+ I sold him before that. So I think I made out pretty well!

Personally I'm bored with the current PMP market and don't have much of an interest in the smart phone market (Samsung intercept killed that). So instead of looking forward, I went back in time and am starting to pick up fun looking players at my local pawn shops & Amazon. Such as this one http://www.amazon.com/Building-Playe...keywords=block

I've recently picked up a Creative Zen vision M & W, before that I had a piece of RCA junk that didn't even get shuffle right!! So I'm just looking for something to have fun with in the end, as that's what it's all about!
