Default Headphones that do not break from tangling and untangling

After a few months whatever headphones I have tend to develop breaks in the internal wiring from trying to keep them in my pocket or leaving them jumbled. Eventually just one side can produce audio output, at which point they are junk.

What are some headphones that are more robust in this regard?

While getting some better built headphones is one solution, you should try to improve your bad habits. Donít keep IEMs in your pocket, use a case, coil the cable gently and they wonít get tangled when you use them next time. The most durable IEMs Iíve ever owned are the cx300s, that said I take care of my IEMs and have never suffered the issue that plagues you on any IEMs Iíve owned. You can read about cleaning them here.

And to avoid kinks in the wires, a best habit is not to wrap the wires around anything, but rather to "flip" them over, which avoids the twisting of the wires.

The most robust headphones I can think of are the Sennheiser HD-25s, with their detachable steel cables and entirely user-replaceable parts:

...but since I suspect those aren't the kind of headphones you're looking for, I'll defer to the advice above.
