All of the Sony's have sound quality that is on par with their other DAP's. It wouldn't be enough of a change to justify buying a different unit.

I have both an NWZ-X1050 and an NWZ-E465 and I've not noticed a difference in the sound quality between the two players.

I've had an E345, S545, and S639, and none of them sounded any different from the others to me. That said, they did all have a very nice sound.

I had to return an A865 as for some reason they had narrowed the soundstage and made the whole thing sound much less lively than the A729 I'd bought it to replace. The Sansa Clip+ was a big improvement on the A865. Happy now I have another A729.
