I'm debating between the SGP 3.6 and 4.2. I've compared the two and prefer the smaller side of the 3.6, but if the SGP 4.2 has 60hrs I would go with it.
However, on one page, Samsung lists 60hrs, while on another, they list 40hrs. Compare: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/mp3...I1CB/XAA-specs http://www.samsung.com/us/system/con..._Sheets_v5.pdf Does anyone know for certain which is the case? |

"max 40hrs" is correct. 60hrs is a mistake. The most accurate figure can be found on the Korean website:
38 hrs (Default setting, MP3 192 kbps, Volume 15, Normal Sound, Display Off) > http://www.samsung.com/sec/consumer/...layer/YP-GI1CW Anyway the most important word is not "40" but "max". In normal conditions you will never reach 40hrs.

I think the other important words there are "Display Off"

ya turning on the display will certainly lower the 40 hour expectation.

The 60 hour figure is the maximum possible for the Galaxy 5.0 with its larger battery.

forget it... you will not get 40 hours of playback...
that's my only complaint about this product.... the battery drains fast as soon as you use gps or wifi or play games. i will have to try with a full charge how long it will play with screen off. I will report back soon. btw I bought 2 spare batteries off Ebay for 7$ shipped from china! so far they as good as the original battery |

The battery life should be a bit better for the SGP 3.6. My rationale is that they both sport the same-size battery (1500 mAh). Since common sense tells me that the 4.2 would take more from the battery to support it; the screen is generally the largest source of battery drainage; and the efficiency for both devices would be roughly the same, I assume, since their release dates, OSes, and manufacturers are the same, I'm saying the 3.6 would have a better battery life under the same operating conditions.
I'd still go with the 4.2 though since you get more features, more RAM (I believe), better speakers, and better screen resolution (things just look ugly on the 3.6, IMO), in addition to other things. Plus, you can, and probably will for both devices, carry a spare. |

I thought only the 4.2 and not the 3.6 has a removable battery. I would really like to see something with a 3" to 3.6" screen with an easily swappable battery for under $100.

Im not trying to be a wiseguy, but something with a 3"-3.6" screen with any type of battery doesn't exist on the market.
![]() I gave my SGP 5.0 to my son after buying a Galaxy 2 7.0 Tablet last week. The 7.0 Tab has MUCH better sound quality than the SGP 5.0, but it's a tight squeeze in my pocket. CNET's review of the 4.2 says that it also has much better sound quality than the 4.0 and 5.0, which they dismissed as failures. Of course their opinion has to be taken with a grain of salt, but I might just have to buy a 4.2.......BTW...The ICS 4.0 on the Samsung Tab makes the Gingerbread look like decade old technology. Sad, but true...... |

A wifi device can only be of use when it is with you. 7" is just too big to carry in a pocket on my person. I have researched the subject, ICS DOES NOT have any earth shattering improvements for the average user. Admittedly, ICS is slicker and faster. BTW, your Galaxy 7.0 is officially obsolete, Android 4.1 has been released and your device only has 4.0. Think of all the Android goodness you're missing with mere 4.0. Time for an ungrade?

Whatever causes the improvements on the 7.0 Tab, it is worlds apart from the 4.0 and 5.0 SGP's. I can carry the 7.0 around the house with ease, but wouldn't toss it in the car without a good reason. My wife does carry hers in her pocketbook when she goes to work, and that mid-size handbag holds it easily.
I saw that ICS 4.1 is out, but I hadn't even heard of ISC 4.0 until I joined this forum... ![]() I think the 4.0/5.0 and 7.0 Tab are all good, but the sound quality is better on the 7.0 Tab. My son and I might run over to BB and get a 4.2 in a couple of hours. I'd hate to find out the SQ isn't any better, but that's the risk you take. CNET reviewers have made some goofy comments (including their review of the 7.0 Tablet), but they were emphatic about the 4.2's SQ superiority. I did try my son's Touch yesterday to hear its SQ, and was completely unimpressed. The sound settings on that device are a joke, and made almost zero difference. The 7.0 Tab is made in S. Korea, BTW, and that made me feel better. I guess I'll have to look at the 4.2 box to see where it's made, but my guess would be China. |

at best buy i put the 3.6 on top of the 4.2 and they are practiacally the same size so don't let that turn you off. i would love for the 3.6 to cost $100 then i would probably buy one.

I have a GP 4.2 and a while ago I ran a battery life test with wifi off, BT off. I played an album continuously. After two days (48 hours), there was still more than 10 percent power left.
Since then I have found a number of apps that kill battery life notably some battery status apps. |
