So my (second :-( ) Clip+ fell on the ground and now will not turn on. I tried resetting it by holding the power button, but nothing. It's also not recognised when I plug it into the computer. I tried turning it on several times and it turned on once or twice, only to display (I believe) "ATA Error: -2", then it turned off after seconds. I was running rockbox on the player.
What do I do? If the issue is mechanical, how do I open the player and what do I fix? |

It most likely is indeed a hardware issue, but it's impossible to say where or what has broken inside and whether or not you can fix it. There is a dis-assembly guide complete with pictures here on ABI that will assist you in taking it apart, but unless you have some electronic testing equipment and know how to use it, you're probably not going to A.) know what to look for, and B.) fix it if you're lucky enough to find the problem.
Better to chalk this up to experience and don't be such a "butter-fingers" with the next one. |
