Well I am new to this forum and I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions on what new headphones should I purchase.
Price Range <S$100 Headphone : looking for full-sized headphones that are portable. Purpose : for listening to music from mp3 player, currently having a Zen X-fi 3 or iPhone. Not a DJ or podcast usage Currently earphones: I am currently using Hippo white earpiece, think its great but definitely want something better What I want : probably something bassy but does not sacrifice on clarity or tremble. Definitely do not want muddiness. Prefer to have noise isolation and not so much sound leakage from my headphones. I am not willing to purchase a amplifier although it does make a world of a difference. Genre of music: mostly pop, R&B , hip-hop, rock and club music. Extras: definitely want the new headphones to be portable an have single detachable cable. Lastly, I know headphones without an amp, would be quite soft, but are there any that still perform well without an amp? Would you guys please share your suggestions, thank you. |

Yeah I have read quite a few reviews on the Audio Technica ATH- M50. I have read that it's a very well-balanced pair of headphones with respectable sound quality but are there anymore suggestions of headphones within the price range of <$100? I want to be able to have more choices before I actually purchase the new pair of headphones.

How stuck on the detachable cable are you? That will severely limit your choices. I have a set of audio technical ws55 that are great IMO. As for your statements regarding an amp...you will be fine without it for most portable cans. There is a deal posted for the m50 right now that brings it to $100. The Denon 1100 can usually be had for that price with the right coupon code too. Really, at $100 you have lots of choices. TDS seems to like his new set...can't remember the model for some reason.

Look for a deal on the excellent sounding Incase Sonic headphones - I prefer them over most of the hp's I currently own. They're wonderful.

I want too but wont be anytime soon. just paid for a vacation and my oldest kids birthday and got my tags coming up along with my middle girls birthday too. summers suck the money like no other time for me. they visually appeal to me as well as the sound as it has been described.

I have no money either, but I wish I'd been able to get a spare when they were $65 on (I think) WooT. If you get a chance grab 'em.

Are the Incase Sonic that good? Wish I would have bought them too when they were $65.
Back to the headphone suggestion, I recently got the ATH-M50 from the deal before the current deal and have no regret on getting them. They have strong punchy bass and smooth crisp highs. They do have a V-shaped sound signature IMO so the mids are recessed. Another choice that is quite popular is the Creative Aurvana Live!. They often go on sale for $60. |

Hmm yeah I think I will not pick incase's sonic, they look kind of flimsy to me. I will head down to the audio store to try them out. Going to try out your recommendations.

They aren't flimsy, and YES - they sound THAT GOOD. The build quality & sq are both excellent. I own the Aurvana Live, I had the M50, and I prefer the Sonic's.

I just look up more info on the Incase Sonic. I didn't know they have detectable cable. That's a big plus for them.
