I'm just curious which player anythingbutipod users prefer and why...
So here it is - gun to your head: which player do you like better, the Clip+ or the Clip Zip? (please answer only if you use/have used both of them) I'll start -> Clip+ Why? - bigger display (horizontal) with better readability in direct sunlight - the smaller keys are less likely to be pressed in your pockets (and look imho better) - a little better built quality Maybe this helps other users to make a decision. |

Clip Zip if you want Album art, either one if that doesn't matter. Is there a punch line coming up?

There's no serious perceptible differences if you use rockbox other than the screen
![]() Edit: forgot to mention, my Zip has a metal clip. Even though I've never broken one of the plastic ones, it should last longer

Zip because of the larger color screen and it's slightly easier for me to manage the player with the buttons. the buttons aren't likely to be pushed in your pocket anyway. and what is the point of a clip mp3 player if you are going to put it in your pocket? just clip it to the outside of your pocket or a belt loop

I want a player that's usable for audiobooks and other spoken word things as well as music. I have the Clip and the Clip+ but I haven't bought the Clip Zip because I've heard so many times that it's just not really that great except for music.
About 10 years ago Iriver, who made the Rio Volt for Rio, did a survey of their users asking them, among other things, what they listened to. As I recall about 60% said they use it for at least some spoken word stuff and about 40% said spoken word was a primary interest for them. Rio and Iriver designed good audiobook features into their players and I guess that might have caused more audiobook and podcast listeners to buy them, so these numbers might not match those of the general public that well, but maybe they do. I think Sandisk needs to do a study. Barry |

I've used both with Rockbox and there's not really a difference. Album art excites me about as much as the screen is big. But since you're holding a gun to my head I'll say the Zip because of the bigger colour screen, the clip itself is bigger and a little easier to handle (for me at least), and I find RDS on radio really nice.
Only downside may be that I now have to carry an extra cable; microUSB while all my other stuff uses miniUSB. But that may also be an indication that I need to upgrade that other stuff .

With Rockbox either one is a nice device (and I've had multiple Clips, Clip+'s, and Clip Zips). For me, if I was buying one now, it would be a Zip because it's still current and the battery hasn't been sitting on a shelf somewhere for who knows how long.

I still prefer my Clip+ to my Zip. The low-res color screen doesn't do album art justice. I'd rather see none at all, than the low quality rendition that the Zip's screen provides.
I also don't care for the larger buttons on the Zip's control pad that extend all the way out to the edge of the player. It's just too easy to hit the FF or REW (or even the POWER button on top) while simply grabbing the player, especially if it is clipped to your clothing somewhere at the time. No, I don't want to have to use the LOCK function. One edge the Zip does have over the Plus though is the FM Radio function. The interference and station-drifting many people complained about on the Plus is gone on the Zip and it has RDS on it now. Unfortunately, this really isn't a 'plus' for me since I hardly ever use the radio on any of my players. |

Clip Zip. No gun necessary.
Larger screen, more robust clip, similar build quality. |

But the stores are closed, and shipping on a ZIP is so expensive to Canada, so I'll order a Clip+ right now. OK? Can I go now?

At the time when I was looking for a Clip the Zip wasn't available here yet, so Clip+ it was.
