As I am use to charging my old Zen Stone via a USB plug adapter that goes into a 3 pin, I am finding it impossible to charge the Clip+ this way, even though the connections are the same. It says in the manual that it can only be charged by a PC that is running. What use is that if you are away from home and you don't have access to a computer ? Surely there is another way ?

I don't know what a "USB plug adapter that goes into a 3 pin" is. I use phone chargers and a number of other USB wall chargers like this one http://www.amazon.com/Professional-C...039003&sr=8-23 to charge when I'm away from the PC.
They all deliver the USB standard 5 volts. I just plug them and and it charges.

I have a USB wall charger that works on the Zens Stone but not the Sansa.

Strange as the one I use (similar to the one skip mentioned) use to charge my zen stone (it's dead now) and charges all my clips from the very first model to the current clip zip. Could there be something wrong with your clips cable?

I have a handful of wall chargers now. There is one that doesn't work with a couple of devices but is OK with others. Cables seem a little loose in that charger and that may be the cause.
Try getting a new charger, cause my Clip+ charges just fine with a wall charger. Steve

The cable is fine as it charges from the computer. When plugged into the wall it lights up the battery symbol but it doesn't keep filling up to indicate it is charging. It just stays solid orange until the power drains.
