Default Samsung flops with the tab 2

Samsung drops the ball here. What were they thinking?

http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19736_7...ad-core-world/

A 1ghz dual processor TODAY? The s2 from way back when has a 1.5ghz dual processor. Why not a quad core or a faster processor, why not a better camera,?

The new Asus is cheaper, has a quad core, microsd card slot, universal micro usb slot, hdmi output slot, 8mp camera, 32gb of memory, ...

Some critic to the review thinks the reviewer was bias because he criticized the tab 2, especially for having 1ghz dual core. If someone releases a product that is not better (but actually worst) than the predecessor then you would be bias not to criticize. The reviewer even said that if the tab 2 was released a couple of months ago then it would have been fine (how is that bias?). The critic also said that since the Ipad has a dual core and wasn't being criticized then the reviewer is bias towards apple. "That's because the Ipad was released more than two months ago!" The tab 2 was released competing with quad core tabs that have more and better features but at comparable prices. If I get a tab then it will be the Asus before the tab 2 that's for sure.

Stock is going to drop on this.

I do agree that the tab 2 10.1 is somewhat underwhelming. Their intent was to drop the price, but it wasn't being sold cheaply enough to justify the dual core chip.

Now, if you look at the tab 2 7.0 that changes. Same processor, but powering a lower resolution (since it's smaller) yet higher ppi screen, and with the end result being better performance. Plus it's an ICS tablet for $249 MSRP, occasionally as low as $220, and infinitely more capable than something like the kindle fire or nook tablet for not much more money.

The theme here is price. The tab 2 7.0 is cheap enough to get away with lower end specs - indeed, it's among the best values in the tablet world at the moment. Hence all the generally good reviews. The tab 2 10.1 on the other hand is still too expensive for what it offers, especially with things like the asus TF300 on the market.

They didn't make the processor "worse" they replace the Tegra 2 with a better Texas Instruments dual core processor. In the Canadian stores the 10" tab 2 goes for $350 which is $50 cheaper than most 10" tablets currently. I think $300 for it is a good deal and most likely you'll probably see it go on sale for that price.

So the TI processor is better than the tegra 2 processor? If so then probably not by much.
Also some places are selling them for $400. I agree that $300 would be a good deal and should be the actual price for them. It's just it's competing with cheaper quad core tabs with even better features. So it's not the tab that is bad, but the pricing.

I think there strategy maybe is to have hit the market at a higher price but soon lower it or have it constantly on sale at it's true price. If the MSRP is around $300 people might think it's not the same quality as the Ipad as they would have had to slash coast somewhere. I think to, most of the non Ipad tablets sales were devices sold at sale or bargain prices like the Kindle Fire. The key strategy to win people over from the ipad is is to argue your getting more value for your money and what better way to do that than a huge $100 off sticker on the store flyer or site.

This is just my guess to try to explain Samsung's madness . You would figure since they're so good at selling phones maybe they might have some crazy brilliant strategy for tablets.

If they were competing only with the ipad then you would have a point. The problem is clearly they are competing with tablets that are not only far better but CHEAPER.

Answer this: Why in the hell would you buy a samsung tab for $400 when you can get a quad core one, with twice the memory (32gb), a universal micro usb slot, micro sd card slot, hdmi out, etc. for less than $400?

Now do you feel me?

I have a nice SG Tab 7.0 Plus, and it's far from a failure. I find it to be comparable to my iPad 2,...with less battery life.

Yeah, the thing is that the 7.0 plus is available for around $300 now, quite possibly even less. And since it's slated (at least nominally) to get the ICS update, that makes it a good value, even when compared to the tab 2 7.0.

Still, I'm definitely looking forward to the end of June when the supposed nexus tablet(s?) are rumored to release.

IIRC dfkt RMAA tested the ipad 2 vs the sansa clip plus and got the result that they were pretty much exactly the same.

I believe the volume is louder on my Tab+, but I'd guess the sq is the same. I really never use my iPad 2 (I mean my wife's ) for music. I guess I just discovered something I was missing. I luv this thing,...but the iPad 2 definetly has the better battery life.
