Default Getting microSD card to work in e280?

I have a working microSD card. It works fine on my sansa fuze but not on this one for some reason. I'm guessing it has something to do with how the files were transferred but I can't get the View to recognize it at all.

Are there any tips on installing a sd card with the e280 or something I need to format? It's a 4 gig card, would adding Rockbox to it maybe fix this?

Also, sorry, realized this is the subsection forum, meant to post in the general one.

Thanks

I just installed Rockbox and it fixed it, it's reading the card now.

But is there any way to do it without Rockbox.

Also as an aside, is it possible to increase the size of the font on rockbox?

I don't recall the size but the original firmware does have a limitation on card size, it may have been 4GB but I don't recall.

Yes, check settings/theme/browse fonts. look: http://download.rockbox.org/daily/ma...ml#x12-1580009
Edit: forgot to mention, depending on the build you installed you may have to install the font pack here. If you need help just ask but it's easy, dl, install into the .rockbox folder under fonts. I'm not sure which themes are still working as many of them were/have not been updated to keep up with rb, but you might want to take a look at them too.

As WalkGood indicated and to clarify,

With original Sansa firmware, only 2GB max is readable for a regular SD card. 4GB is readable with a SDHC card type. Having RB as the firmware allows for higher sized cards. I also have a e280 and using a 16GB microSD SDHC card.

You can change the font size, but going into the settings folder. Fonts pack is not required, though I believe the pack is included on the RB install. Either way you are set by going into settings.

JSP62, thanks I couldn't recall the max size, dam 2GB sounds awfully low but then again I haven't booted the OF in years On another note I would guess that a 64GB card formatted FAT32 would work with rockbox as well but the largest card I have is 32GB.

Heh, yea 2GB is small!...though considering the time at which the E200 series came out, it was considered big. Oh how technology progresses so fast

Yea a 64GB is probable with the RB Devs constantly updating their FW for this discontinued player.

I love my Sansa e280! RB is an added bonus. I still use my player constantly for physical activities. It has (had?) the best bang for the buck for size you get. Plus the drag & drop feature is key! I hate proprietary software (i.e. iTunes and Zune) that lock you in. Only trade off is no fancy GUI or touchscreen or HD like the more modern players you see. Still okay with me!

Just to clarify, the stock OS handles microSD fine of any capacity, it just happens to max out at 2GB in that format. Then there is microSDHC which are generally up to 32GB, which you need rockbox to be able to use on the e2xx series.

I as well, loved my e260. Still holding on to it for the day I figure out how to solder well enough to fix it.
