A side on the unplugged pin (it should be the 4) and the other side on the pin of black wire? I can't understand if i have to disconnect the back wire and leave only the side of resistor on that pin, or i have to solder both (the black wire and the side of resistor) on pin 5. I hope you understand my question, help me please
It's very simple: you just need to place the resistor between 5th pin AND black, so that the controller chip can measure resistance with respect to ground
Wait, I'll also remind this post: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=63108
So, a 301 KOhm resistor does the trick!
Hope it's clear, otherwise just ask again...

Hello and many thanks to lebellium, Lorenzo092 and Vannix!
My R0 was bricked the second time, but now much more worse than one year ago, where it was still shown as USB Device and I was able to format and update it to firmware 2.2
This time it stucks on the first boot sequence and didn't even could been brought to the SAVE-MODE of firmware 2.2 :-(
Whith a self made USB Cable (funny to translate russian to german 25 years after the last lesson of russian :-) and your very good tutorial, i could unbrick it!
So I'm very happy now and consider to use firmware 2.5 to get rockbox. Are there tutorials of the same quality for that?
Cheers edwany

Good to hear

To install Rockbox: http://anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58642
Instructions should be clear enough but don't hesitate to ask questions if any.

Thanks for the link, found it by myself seconds after posting the question
Today I had the time to upgrade FW to 2.51 and install rockbox too, which was very easy.
One thing takes a bit longer: The YP-R0 tried to initialize a new database (of course due to there where none), but it hangs up every time.
Solution was easy: I had to change the "directories to scan" in the "general settings/database", which is a bit mistakable if the language is already set to "german". Then it says only: "Verzeichnisse auswählen" what means "choose directory" and I interpreted that wrong as the directory for the database file....
Now the path is set right and it works a treat. I couldn't stop playing around with my "new" multifunctional player!
Thanks for the good work!
Cheers edwany

Hey! Sorry I missed your post...
Indeed, I noticed the same database issue (and the same workaround) on Rockbox for Android. Rockbox on YP-R0 is particular as it is not a native port, it's a RaaA (Rockbox as an Application) port like for Android.

The recovery tool was only tested with Virtualbox on Windows and Linux.
We don't know about Mac OS

Finding a XP computer shouldn't be too hard though, it still has 25% market share!
