Default Sansa Fuze cable mod

This mod is for those who have trouble removing the charging cable while their headphones are plugged in.

Alright I ended up modding it without taking it apart.

1. Keep the metal hook closed with a piece of tape (one that won't melt or burn).
2. Press the button against a frying pan while it is still warming up and not hot enough to melt (because you want the button to actually press down instead of just melting). When the button is melted to the rest of the cable, remove from heat and cool with water.
3. Remove the tape, the metal hook will no longer come out on the side that you melted. Wash your frying pan well.

I just got out my fuze and stared at it for like 20 seconds trying to find a "button beside the headphone jack". Which button are you referring to?

Saratoga:

FF is asking about the cable release button on the cable not on the player.

FF:

I just tried it with a pair of Sony earphones and was able to release the cable with the earphones still inserted. However, it was a little difficult. Obviously this could differ depending on the size of the earphone plug.

Ah. Yeah you can do that. I've gotten a taken apart one for debugging that just slides in and out without latching. Have to be careful to not pull it out while using the player though.

1. Keep the metal hook closed with a piece of tape (one that won't melt or burn).
2. Melt the button until the plastic fuses with the rest of the plug so that it is no longer a button. I used a frying pan and pressed the button against the metal pan.
3. Remove the tape, the metal hook will no longer come out on the side that you melted. Wash your frying pan well.
