Default is a 10 in tablet to big?

i was going to get the samsung galaxy player 5.0 but now i think its to small. i'm also looking at 7 in tablets. i am not sure if i want a 10in or not, i think it might be to big. my price range is 250-350. i want to surf the net but i want wifi only. i want to play games and use the FULL android market. it also has to have a sd card slot. could you also tell me what a good sounding cheap (100 bux or less) mp3 player is. hopefull with 8 gb or more and a sd card slot.

thank you

Get a Samsung Galaxy Tablet 7.0. It's just the right size IMO,...and it does everything you want it to do.

I find 10-inchers to be not big enough, personally. Looking forward to that 13-something Toshiba (or is ti Fujitsu... hmm) tablet. But it better be thick and heavy.

I've been in many a thread with the OP, and a 7 inch tablet is perfect for her. Please don't add confusion into the thread.

Go to a store and try them out. No amount of advice will replace that tactile feedback.

My own opinion is that if you're going to be using your tablet on the go, then 7 inches is ideal. If it's going to be something that sits at home on your coffee table, then (usually) 10 inches is better. Unless you're mostly going to use it as an ereader, where 7 inches is again better.

Edit: in case you're wondering between the galaxy tab 2 7.0 and the galaxy tab 7.0 plus, definitely go for the latter. The price difference now is as little as $35, and the plus has better specs across the board. Well worth it.

Y'know, now I look at my 17.3" screen, I think that would make a perfect tablet size.

It all depends on what you are using it for.

10" is great for videos, web pages, reading magazines, ect. Most 10" come in a 16:9 ratio so it works. The 10" tablets are a bit obtrusive and heavy though for long time viewing. While battery life is good it is something you will need a bag or case for carrying around.

7" are very portable and the battery is smaller and doesn't last as long compared to their 10" counterparts. Most come in a 16:9 screen configuration. You don't look attract too much attention using one in public like a 10". A 10" says; hey look at me or I want to be mugged! Reading ebooks is very good but magazines and manuals are not because of the 16:9 ratio. Manuals/Mags come out to being an equivalent to reading on a 5" screen and is not very readable for those will poor or failing eyesight. If you have good eyes they will get bad read manuals this way. On the other hand watching movies and playing games are relatively enjoyable. On board keyboard is easier to use compare to a 10"

For me I am looking for a 4:3 screen ratio like the iPad and there are a few 8" that fit the bill but most 8"/4:3 ratio tablets are under power and not well built. Archos has one but, once again poorly built. It is not the price that keeps me from iPads. It is the proprietary connection via iTunes that holds me back as well as the hipster/poser factor. Not to mention the size is too big for my needs.

For now it is the SGP. I have a bluetooth keyboard and makeshift stand for mobile communications. Movies and books look and feel fine. If the SGP were a 4:3 ration Manuals/Mags might be more readable.

I will more that likely purchase a Galaxy Tab 2 7" to replace my 1st gen Tab. Which is the reason I use the SGP. The 1st gen Tab crashes too much and laggs too much. When I need the Tab it drags or crashes thus not dependable which I don't get with the SGP 5".

In short I favor a smaller 5-8" size tablet because of what I use it for. When working with Clients a smaller tablet is not a distraction. Easily can be mount in a Planner without drawing too much attention.

That is my 2 cents.

Shit or get off the pot.

Seriously go test them out and see what size works for you. You have to weigh firepower vs mobility, if you can not figure out what your needs are you probably do not need one.

Funny how everyone else focused on the tablet ... for mp3 player look at the Clip+ or Clip Zip, either one will meet your requirements.

Indeed. A 10-inch tablet isn't too big. It's actually too small.

If you are looking to do any amount of web-surfing, a 10" tablet is the way to go, IMHO--web-surfing can be a strain on a 7" tablet.

Having said that, a 7" is much handier for traveling around with.

But, for the technically challenged, it's big enough. The OP is a new-jack,...
