Default FutureSonics EarMonitors

Does FS allow non-professionals (regular consumers) to order their EarMonitors?

Those ComfortFit™ replacement foam sleeves on their site look very interesting and @ $10.00 for a set of 5 either in larger or small sounds like a good deal.

Huh. If they do allow it then that'll be my next step.
Does FS perform custom artwork? Or just colors and glitter?

If you're looking at their custom mg5pro or 6 I would think they do but I doubt on the m5's

*BTW if you're shopping price for customs you should check out the 1964s, $325.00 for dual, $400 for triple or $525 for quad drivers is not shabby pricing.

^ Thank you very much for that. Though their pricing sure looks juicy, I am not considering BA IEMs - universal or custom - ever again.
It's just too bad that there are so few dynamic customs. There's this EM, there's this "Wan Xuan i9Pro" which uses drivers of very questionable origin, and there are those hybrid designs. But I guess having few choices (in this case only one, really) provides lots of relief from the constant shopping and the, oh the migraine medicines, you have no idea.

You cannot get artwork on Future Sonics customs. Just standard colors and glitter options. They'll let you get a different color faceplate from the rest of the shell but won't let you get colored tips.

^ Are there any 3rd-party artwork services?
Or I can take a rotary scriber to it, I guess.

I'm not aware if any 3rd party artwork services. Keep in mind you've got a big vent and insert covering a majority of the faceplate anyway. There isn't much room for art.

Interesting, I had to google up some pictures as I didn't see many pics on Future Sonics website. I didn't realize that the mg5pro or 6's had vents on their face plate. How do they sound? Do they leak much sound or allow any in? Yea, I know I can read about them on headfi but thought to keep it in this thread would be nice.

Has anyone ever taken a Burgess VibroGraver to acrylic? If I do inscribe my own art on the faceplate, I am afeared that the tip flies across the surface, screwing things up.

If you have a Burgess, why not practice/give it a try on any cheap or free acrylic stuff that's worthless.

Indeed we have a bunch of amber-colored acrylic blanks lying around...

Take some pictures along the way and share the art here ...

On another note 3602, I was rereading thru the thread and I realize I forgot to ask you about the bad/poor experience you may have had to state “I am not considering BA IEMs - universal or custom - ever again.”

Turns out their Burgess is for marking GC columns only (won't let me use it).

Also regarding BAs. First ever BA; Triple.Fi 10. Severe channel imbalance issue, extremely muffled sound. Returned, bought SE530. No more channel imbalance but equally muffled sound. Too much thick and oily mids. No bass, no treble. UM3X, same. Mids way too forward. SE535, better (clearer, less muffled) than SE530 but bass is more akin to knocking on a piece of sheet metal. The most listenable BA I have ever heard is the ER-4PT and it is duller and muffled compared to the Sony EX1000. Throughout all of this, I've had Turbine Pro-Gold, Pro-Copper, those JVC carbon triangular IEMs and of course the EX1000. Dynamics win every round. Dynamics are just generally much clearer, much more resolving (more details) and with much more natural bass. In my regard the EX1000 pwns each and every single BA I have ever heard in every single way imaginable, except for isolation. No more. No more BAs!!!!

I'm glad that's not the case for me, I like both BA's and dynamic drivers

I'm not sure about leaking. My wife hasn't complained. As far as isolation, it does take a hit. They have 3 different sized vent inserts. The larger you go let's in more noise of course. My Merlin isolates more and closer to a sealed custom.

The mg6pro has a very thick but natural sounding note. Bass is hugely powerful. It moves a lot of air, I mean a lot of air for an iem, so you are feeling and hearing bass. Using a frequency generator app on my iPhone, I can tell you there is little to no roll off at 20hz. The app only goes down to 20hz. The mg6pro goes much lower. The power is simply amazing.

On the downside, the treble rolls off too quickly for me. I you are looking for a balanced/neutral sound, these aren't it. But they can be incredibly fun to listen to. I've had a few fit issues and now another unrelated issue has arisen, so I'm sending them back to FS for a 3rd time.

I understand fit issues as I did a lot of research before writing one of my reviews and in my case I was lucky that my first molds were reject by UE. Fortunately I found another audiologist that did a great job the second time around so I didn’t have to go thru any shaving or build up steps. BTW, what is the unrelated issue?

That sounds awesome. If the treble really proves to be too dark then I'll just EQ it up a notch or seven. But Vocaloid songs generally have some quite rough and spiky treble. Hmm. Gotta hear it.

On the other hand, I hope that the sound tube (bore) doesn't crack and chip. I saw that on other customs, leaving pieces of acrylic in the people's ear canals and all.

Yeah it's very easy to EQ the treble for more sparkle, so no big deal there. It's very realistic sounding treble.

No worries with the soundtube breaking. The acrylic is very thick around it on mine.

The non-fit related issue I'm having is with some harshness at 2k and 3.6k. The tops of guitars and vocals are harsh and "echoey". They are going to have the owner and the techs check it out and see what's going on. The FS house sound is supposed to be smooth. I'm not sure what could be causing it. Hopefully they can figure it out and resolve it, as it's otherwise a very fun and enjoyable CIEM.
