dfkt, It could be because what they demo at shows is completely different than what you describe or they’ve cut corners to lower cost, but the ones I demoed at canjam were made very nice (build quality). I just hated the little ports to change and the sq wasn’t as great as you read like you say, although IIRC acceptable, but they're not for me.

After re-testing the EP-830s vs SkullCandy Titans...
SkullCandy TiTan Advantages- -Less Distorted Bass at high volume levels -Higher Build quality (Can take a beating, thrown in the washer/dryer multiple times ect..) -11mm Driver -Moddable -Lifetime Warranty ||| EP-830 Advantages- -Better Mids and lows -Better Bass at low volume levels -Driver is generally higher quality but its hit or miss ============== SkullCandy TiTan Disadvantages -Uses Inferior Drivers on Rev1 -Cable Stress Reliever is crap -Not well known. ||| EP-830 Disadvantages -Little Useful Life, dies quickly. -1 Year Warranty (90 Days Labor) (After which, you have to pay for shipping to and from if you want replacement) ($12.99 for return shipping for a pair of EP-830s from Creatives Oklahoma RMA facility) -9mm Driver |

How would you compare the Phonak Perfect Fit to Ultiamate Ears Super Fi 5 Pro. The cost is about the same for me. And Compared to both these phones how does the hippo VBs size up altough the sound signatures are very diffrent.

The SF5 Pro are rather sub-par phones with bad comfort for the price. The newer SF5v2 are better and more comparable with the PFE. The Hippo VB really can't be compared to any of them.

Hmm then Hippo Vbs should compare to the UE metrofi 100 since they both use mylar drivers. What are the mylar drivers all about

They're dynamic drivers, same principle as in big loudspeakers. 'Mylar' is just a fancy way of saying 'plastic'. Yogurt cups are often made from Mylar too.
![]() SF5Pro and PFE use balanced armature drivers, which are a whole different technology.

Then What would you recommend the SF5 Pro v2 or the PFE.

Hey, I'm new around here. I currently own a Creative X-Fi 2 and i was wondering if the EP-630 which came with the player are good enough?
I was thinking about getting new ones, but i have no idea what to look for... A friend told me about AKG K370 but I haven't found any good reviews about it. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

I like the general sound and isolation of the PFE more, but prefer the design, comfort, and stereo imaging of the SF5v2.
Probably they are.

Dfkt, how would you rate the... wait for it... wait for it.... V-Moda Vibe Duo
Lol, in the market for a new pair and those have the nice 45 degree plug n such that would be reallllllly handy on the ZuneHD. |

Aren't the Vibe Duo just the normal Vibes with a microphone? If so, they're certainly nice and euphonic sounding, but in the meantime you could do better for the price.
You think a 45° plug is an advantage? Please tell me in what way, I'm honestly curious. Personally I absolutely despise 45° plugs, they just get in the way and hook on stuff in my pocket. Contrary to 90° and 0° plugs they're likely to damage the headphone jack of the player, due to the leverage they could apply. They're a major hassle in my opinion, with not really any advantages over "normal" plugs.

My ZuneHD is in a DLO ActionJacket. It is in a belt holster when in use. Thats why it would be useful. Also, im getting these things for $19.99 shipped. |

Hey!
This morning my EP-630's cord somehow broke and there's no sound coming from the left side. So now, I'm looking for new In-Ear phones but I have no idea if I should get the same ones I had, or something perhaps better? My budget goes up to 50€/65$ and my player is a Creative Zen X-Fi 2. Thanks. EDIT: Nvm about this post. Can be deleted if moderator/admin wants. Last edited by sYlt; 05-18-2010 at 02:00 PM. |

So what's the difference between earbuds and in-ear-monitors? Price? Semantics?

Both earbuds and iem's are defined in the link below my signature "A Glossary for Newbies," and there should be some other definitions there that can help you too ...

Ear buds (example apple buds) don't go in your ear canal.
In Ear Monitors go into your ear canal and make a seal. edit: gah i was slow, WG posted while i was typing and i got distracted haha

All around great earphone in my experince would be the Atrios and the Ultimate ears 5 Pro EB (not sold anymore but its a hybrid and sounds wonderful). Top end I suggest the Future Sonics MG6Pro or the Earsonics EM4.
