Default best buy 64 gb microsdxc

Looks like best buy has the 64gb sandisk microsdxc card for $89.99 before tax

I've read online that android devices can use these cards if you reformat them in your android device to fat32. And I have read that somebody used this card in their sgp 5.0 with great success.

I'm currently using it without any problem on a galaxy player 4.0 (I had however to reformat in fat32 FS on a PC before using it).

Adorama is currently selling a Sandisk 64gb at $79.95 with free shipping. It's on backorder though.

Sandisk 64gb microsdxc

I just received mine the other day and only had to format it in the SGP 5.0. It seems to be working fine, but I haven't fulled the card up yet though.

Thanks for the responses. I had to dig through a few forums before I found that it would work with the sgp. I wasn't aware of adorama until I searched through here. If I had known about them before I bought from bestbuy I would've bought from them =P But I'm a tad impatient and I don't want to wait for when they may get another shipment =P I had been watching bestbuy for a bit as everytime the cards went on sale I always missed it, but this time I got lucky and got the card on sale. I want the storage space but not the full retail of $150. Even searching online the cheapest I found was I think $129.

I've got a 25 dollar best buy gift card but can't really spare the rest I would need to cover it, I tapped myself out with my new car (99 Firebird) and all the little 30 or 40 dollar weekend projects, and I still need to get the passenger window checked out to see why it doesn't work, maybe these cards will have another sale in a few months when I can afford one.

Given the state of the US economy, I'm not sure you could call our dollar "real money".

Last I heard, one British pound was about $1.57 US.

I jest of course.
I remember in Italy once overhearing an American tourist ask a shopkeeper, after hearing a price in Lira, how much that was in real money.

Cringe.

Perhaps you stumbled upon a game of Monopoly that you weren't aware was being played.

FYI- got my card today. The website said it was a class 6 but the card I got was a class 10 I am currently copying 11,000 mp3 over to the card. Not bad for 39.99 ( I had two $5.00 reward coupons to use). I am interested to see the speed difference between my old 32gb class 4 and this. There was always a bit of delay in displaying album art when browsing music. I am wondering if the faster card will help in this. Also, all I did was format the card using the player and it worked fine- it initially said the card was damaged when I installed it.

I doubt you'll see an improvement in read time. The read speed from your Class 4 was probably about 20 mbps or faster. The Class distinction refers to write speed, and read speed is almost always way way faster. So fast, I doubt your player has the resources to fully utilize it, meaning you won't see an improvement.

Such a high capacity card doesn't seem useful for Android devices, except for loading up a big mass of files from another computer.

It might seem fantastic in a media-player sense. It can't be used for storing your GPS maps, for encoding vids/pics to or any other app-related purpose. Knowing that, I'm glad that I bought only a 16GB card for my SGP.

Well the NUMBER 1 use of our players is video and MUSIC playback, I know I currently have about 25 GB or so (I need to check I added some new music recently) and there are guys on here with even more extensive or even higher bitrate (I typically do 192K on my CD rips) then me so the IDEA of being able to use a 64GB card is great for those of us with a wide taste in music, I have well over 120 CD's of my own plus "Mixtape" albums uploaded by the Artist to the internet for FREE (check him out http://hardtarget.wix.com/hardtarget dude rocks and puts the music out for free), plus any music pulled from computers I fix (when I backup there files to my external to reformat and reinstall windows I keep the music, till I can sort thru and see If I like any of it). I'm at the point in my 32 GB (really 29.7) where I have to start to watch myself on the music, so I will one day get a 64GB card just for the freedom it gives me.

I used a 64 gig card in my SGP 4.2 for a while. When I got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" I decided I needed it more there so I moved it and went back to a 32 gig card for my 4.2. 32 gig is enough for the 4.2 but I really liked having all that extra stuff on board so as soon as I can I'll get another 64 gig card for it.

In the meantime I have it in my Tab 2 and it's filled with video files. When I pick it up to watch a TV show or a movie I have a much larger selection to choose from than I did with the 32 gig card and I like that.

Is the 64 gig essential to me? Not at all. But it really is very nice to have.

Barry
