Is the IE80 that much better than the IE8?

I'm looking at getting one or the other but since the IE8 can be had for about 200 hundred less than the IE80 I want to know if its worth the extra coin. I listen to a lot of EDM along with some old school hip hop and alternative. I'm just really interested in how big the soundstage is but I also want good highs and mids and I know the bass is big. So if anyone has heard both and could let me know the difference it would be much appreciated.

They are almost exactly the same, only tiny differences to be noticed in a direct A/B comparison. Also, the IE80 look a lot uglier than the IE8 in reality, IMO. Cable on the IE8 is slightly better, more flexible as well.

Thanks for the reply and thats what I thought after seeing some reviews on the IE80 now I just hope I don't get fakes.

Well if you stay away from eBay and don't pay them one quarter of what they normally cost, you shouldn't get fakes.

I was looking at getting them from Amazon because of their return policy and the $344 isn't to bad though I could get the IE80 for around $100 more but Amazon's out of stock on those.

Buy from an authorized seller.

I wouldn't think that Amazon (no one of the sellers on Amazon but from them their selfs) would be ok but I'll look around for an authorized dealer.

If you buy directly from Amazon, there shouldn't be any issue.
I bought my IE8 from them last year.

My $.02 - The IE80 is pretty much a tweaked IE8 (in a good way). Just a tad more sub bass and less mid bass. The technical specs seems unchanged. I agree with dfkt on the cables but I thought the IE80 looks sexier.

The IE80 isn't worth $200 more than the IE8, well at least to me.
