They should still stretch over the ear cup,...taping is unacceptable. Just put a little muscle into it.

The material used to stretch is really stiff vinyl. Even on the Panasonic, it is a tight fit. I think if you try really hard enough you may be able to stretch it out, but you might risk damaging the pads.

Dude, sometimes you need to take risks. I need a set of these pads now - I'd get 'em on!!!

I'd get them on. But, I have a question - do they come with a foam shield?

I think I actually bought a set of those pads for my old Sony mdr-v6's,...my son loved them so much I let him keep them. The pads are really good. Comfortable too,...

Hmm....there are V6 pads for like $6 on that Amazon page where the Beyer pads were linked. So do velours bring a different sound?

BTW: in the HD25-1 II review thread I've been asked to do a comparison. I find the HD25-1 II's sound better, but without the booming bass. The overall sq is cleaner,...but for $25-$30 these are the better bargain. My sennheiser cans are reference quality, but eq fantastically. Long story short - these sound great, but my sennheiser cans do have the better overall sound. But, for the price, you can't beat the Cortex's!!! Remember, 2 different price points & 2 different targets.

I didn't pay full price on my HD25-1 II's, but there's still a substantial cost difference between these two. I do think you'll notice a difference in certain aspects, but the Cortex cans still are more than worth it IMO.

It's hard to compare the CHP-2500 to the likes of Sennheiser HD25-1 II as they have different sound signature. As TDS said, the HD25-1 II is a reference headphones aimed for an analytical sound while the CHP-2500 is a fun headphones.
BTW, the Beyerdynamic earpads are amazing. They don't change the SQ at all yet they are extremely comfortable. They might even refine the sound a little. I do notice however, you need to bump up the volume an additional 5% to get the same loudness however. |

Unfortunately they are on my other other headphones right now, but I like so much I might buy another one for the CHP-2500.
