My fav so far is the Cortex CHP-2500. I find that they really boom in the low end, and seem to be quite clear in the mids & high. Some find the treble irritating (you know who you are
), but I actually find them to be my fav can ATM.

Do I see a new FOTM developing here? CHP-2500 or M50?

M50 hands down. The CHP-2500 will distort, M50 wont.

I've never had the distortion, so I think the CHP-2500's have a quality control issue. Remember, these were budget cans,...no more, no less. As for that FOTM thing,...lol,...wrong site brother!!!
![]() I did like the m50's but I think I actually LIKE a lot of mids and annoying-to-some treble,...go figure!!!

Some of the best bass I've heard in headopnes:
Beyerdynamic DT990 Amongst the best bass in open cans.. Tight and textured yet impactful and quite present. Their V-shaped frequency curve is somewhat similar to a Grado GS1000, which means that they can be used for low-volume listening and they excel at that IMO. Their sole issue is that the mids are recessed. Ultrasone PRO900 Ridiculous, over-the-top, huge bass. There is nothing realistic about how the bass is done with these cans, and the upper-mid and treble is made really harsh so that it can remain clear even with the enormous bass. The mids are slightly recessed as well, but not hugely so. The bass is truly a wonder though - I have honestly never heard something as impactful and PHYSICAL that is also as fast and textured at the same time. It is like having a well-tuned sub-woofer system. With this said, I wouldn't listen to these very often because they are not an easy listen with their huge amount of harshness and sibilance. The bass is probably amongst the most impressive in all of headphone-land, but it comes at a price. Shure SRH840 and Sennheiser HD650 Both offer a somewhat similar sound, with the Shure having a tad more sparkle in the high frequencies. I like the bass on these headphones because they both do a very good job of having a sweet, impactful and textured bass that does not affect any of the other frequencies. Though they both have dark sound signatures, they are still extremely neutral, monitoring cans and the nice bass doesn't make you miss any information in the other frequencies, unlike some of the other bass-heavy cans out there. |

Let me add the Sony mdr-xb41exb.
![]() Not as much sub-bass as my Dunu Hephaes, but a very detailed and dry bass. Really great for rap and electro and at around 35 bucks definetly to be considered. It's also more defined over the whole frequency, with sometimes sparkling, but not uncomfortable highs. It also comes with a whole lot of tips, including 4 pairs of hybrids.

Have you tried Velodyne Vpulse?
I owned Hippo VB, PFE, ER-61, M50 and so far vpulse is the best. No, I am no audio expert but I know deep and butt kicking bass. I am surprised ABI hasn't reviewed Vpulse. |

For headphones, the Cortex CHP-2500. For earphones, the Aftershokz Sport. I can even feel the vibration of guitar being strummed on the Aftershokz Sport.

Mine would be Hippo VB and Beats by Dr.Dre
Hippo VB has awesome sub-bass, but sadly the treble isnt enough. where the beats has a lot of treble with a decent amount of bass. Im still looking with a basshead iem with awesome treble and no sibilance.
