hey to everyone, I was reading quite a lot threads on NBT and now decided to register and ask my question.
I am planning to buy a sandisk mp3 player. I was certainly sure about buying clip+ then I saw other options like zip and fuze+. I didn't like the zip's screen resolution, so it's only clip+ vs fuze+. I read a lot pretty bad messages by fuze+ users on sansa's forum about the navigation and the slow browsing. My question is I am not really sure to choose a simple device like clip+ or some fancy looking fuze+? I can afford both. I read that latest firmware version fix some amount of slow navigation, but people are still not happy about. Did anyone tried the latest firmware or rockbox on fuze+? Does it really solve the slow navigation and that touchpad issue or is it still the same? Clip+ looks pretty awesome and basic which I liked, but I am pretty curious about the latest news about fuze+ Edit: I read that fuze+ 's offers 24 h of playback which is quite longer than what clip+ offers. Is it really like that? |

I've experienced both the Fuze+ with the newest firmware and the Clip+. The Fuze+ still has significant problems IMO. Wrap around menu scrolling helped some and the touchpad wasn't quite as crazy or sluggish but it still isn't easy to get things rolling. It's nearly impossible to make a change one handed or without stopping everything else you're doing for the simplest change. Once you have things rolling and lock the touchpad it's decent. You may feel like taking a hammer to it a couple of times before you get things rolling though.
Neither the Clip+ or the Fuze+ get the rated battery life. No player does in my experience. It's reasonable to expect to lose 20-25% of the rated battery life if you use reasonable bitrate .mp3 files and don't make changes that turn on the screen much. That varies per person but the Fuze+ definitely lasted much longer between charges than the Clip did.

I wouldn't write off the Clip Zip--while its resolution is not hot, its readability comes out, at least under the original firmware, on par with the earlier Clips, due to the slightly larger type size. And the Clip Zip will have future firmware support from SanDisk.

I'd consider anything before the fuze +, it just sucks. Too bad you don't live in an area where you could go test it.

No contest . . . Clip+. The Fuze+ is/will be considered SanDisk's Edsel.

What made the view even worse is that they dropped it fairly fast and left a lot of customers high and dry :/

Sounds pretty much like what they're doing with the Fuze+.
