Unfortunately he may have a point re. "beer-drinking saps". The last two concerts I attended by artists of the "classic rock" era had way too many drunken idiots in the audience yelling and arguing instead of listening to the music. If they were my "fans" I wouldn't have a good attitude about them either. Makes me long for the days when the crowd was high on marijuana. At least that substance encouraged listening to and appreciating the music. (Not that I have anything against beer, in moderation
, just "fans" who go to concerts to be screaming drunks.)

I don't care. He's still a rock legend.

He is getting old and he can't take it with him. So he turns over the stewardship to a publishing company. Big Deal.
As I get older I would have to agree with his statments about the people that show up to classic rock concerts. They were fun in the seventies because I was young and stupid and it was fun. Today to see the over the hill crowd send redicious amounts of money for tickets. Coming in wasted and acting in a manner that in short; is ilreverent and lack of respect for other concert goers. They are saps for sending ungodly amount for the tickets which goes against everything the Who stood for. Pete is old and apprarently doesn't give a Fk.! The only way to go. |
