Hellooo
im new here. i made a similar topic in the portable head amp section but would also like some advice on the cans. especially important for me because I have relatively little listening experience. I only have what other people say to go on before i buy.So the initial issue was this: I bought a very nice gaming laptop from sager. It was otherwise awesome and dreamy but the headphone jack is utter crap! i didnt want to have crackling audio while everything else on the laptop is snappy. I browsed around in notebookreview forums and they almost unanimously said Fiio E10s are great bang-for-buck low budget I was pretty set on the purchase when I thought, since im making an audio upgrade, might as well get a new pair of earbuds. Yes, earbuds, because I cant wear in-ears for too long before they get uncomfortable. fullsized headphones.. sort of feel like a large commitment. call me a wimp. and from what i've read, nicer earbuds can more or less provide a similar experience as overear headphones? bottom line: i really want to stick to buds. so far I have trimmed my choices to this: E10 + pk3/mx580 around $130 E10 + E6 + AS Shine/pk1 $200 E17 + AS Shine/pk1 $250 I know the cost disparity is kinda 'wtf'. its all within budget, so the question is which is better value? or if there would be a more appropriate setup please suggest. I THINK i would prefer warmer sounding, with wide soundspace, but not 100% sure because like i said, i have little listening experience. currently i own B&O A8, Sennheiser CX300ii, SRH 240, none of them are really my cup of tea. |

Welcome to Anything but iPod!
I'll just watch this thread since I'd just give you the same suggestions here as on Head-fi. Only thing is that you wrote AS Shine by accident instead of AS Charm. Best of luck on your quest!

It doesn't make sense to limit your self to the MX580 or PK1. If you want better sound than the MX580, then you should choose the MX880 or Sony E888. be careful though, as there are many fake E888 earbuds around. The E888 is on the bright side, while the MX580 sounds closer to neutral. The MX880 is said to have much more bass than the MX580.
I guess the E10 makes sense for use with the notebook all the time. The E7 has more versatility since it has a built in battery and a line in, so you could also use it with an mp3 player. I don't know about the E17. |
