Nuked cable :(

So my wife decided to microwave my sansaclip zip propriety mini usb cable in the microwave. lol

So now what? Where can i get another one without having to buy a whole new clip zip?

Question 2: My kindle fire ac adaptor cable fits the clip zip, and indeed seems to turn the zip on when it is off (like its getting power from it). Could it be that the kindle fire cable is compatible with the zip port? I took it out quite quickly cuz i wasnt sure enough to risk seeing what happens to it for a prolonged period of time.

I might be able to survive for awhile taking sd card to put new tunes on etc, I RB it already and everything seems fine. The only thing i can't do without that cable is access its 4gb storage and install new RB etc. But i just need to be able to charge it.

You see.... if you'd live in Europe, every phone now comes with a micro-USB cable but I'm sure that you'll find a cable to buy anywhere on the net.

Also, I have a nook and I used its ac adapter to charge the clip zip and so far there's no damage. I think they're made to do the same voltage as the USB, which is (around) 5V, so I don't think there will be a problem with using a charger on many devices.

I want to know this as well. Did the cable get wet and she was trying to dry it out or something?

As cbomb says, it's very easy to find microUSB cables online for cheap.

1) Slap her
2) it's not proprietary.
3) it's called a MICRO USB cable
4) what's wrong with owning a second Clip Zip?
5) they're available everywhere. I'm getting my spare cables from eBay. One to leave in the car. A retractable one to keep in the travel bag.

Yeah, the kindle fire and the clip zip have the same plug and use the same cable. Its a standard that has been around as long as USB itself almost. Its just barely becoming the popular connector.

And yes, your Kindle Fire AC adapter should be 5 volts, so it will charge the clip zip just fine.

I have three of the super-short Clip Zip micro-USB cables that sit unused 99% of the time....because I don't want a player hanging off the front of my computer tower that way. What do I use? The crazy long micro-USB from my Nook Simple Touch....plugged into the back side ports of the tower, and looped around, so I plug it or my Zips in and set them on top of the tower to charge.

Another benefit of that cable....I can put stuff on the Nook that I didn't have to buy from Barnes & Noble....maybe something for Bruce to think about with his Kindle Fire.

Ah cool! Yes i haven't been able to put ANYTHING on the kindle fire yet due to living outside usa and not getting the prime services or cloud! Must try it.

BUT... I thought the CZ cable was propriety, well the clip+ mini cable doesn't fit it, so what's that cable called? I think my samsung s2 phone has the same connector also, I have a usb one that i'll try later, maybe this isn't such a biggy after all.

Unless his clothes dryer is broken, and he left the cable in his pants through the washer. Once she noticed all his pants were dirty and he needed a clean dry pair she threw some into the microwave to dry them out quickly. Thus an accidentally microwaved cable happens.
