I think I decided on one. The pioneer sx434 seems to be easy to find (even locally), looks decent, and is affordable. good sound according to popular opinion

I love the look of vintage gear. I still have one of these beasts sitting in the corner of my room. A Pioneer SX-1250 that belonged to my grandfather. It's a little dirty and some of the switches are broken, but the front display still lights up and sparkles beautifully. Unfortunately it pops, hisses and cuts in an out when my speakers are connected. I'd love to get is restored, but I'm not really a tinkerer and I'm sure it would cost a small fortune to get in working order again. But from doing research, this was their flagship stereo receiver in 1976 and retailed for $900! It's also more than twice the weight of my current Pioneer Elite 7-Channel AVR
