Default Creative Zen Style M100 - Problem Changing Firmware

So I got one of these for Christmas and it seems fine for what I need but the max volume is very low. I want to try replacing the EU firmware (v1.00.16e) with the US equivalent (v1.00.16) to see if that bypasses any volume limiter.

The problem I have is that when I run ZENFWUpdater_M100_v1.00.16.exe it tells me that the firmware has been upgraded, but inspecting the firmware information on the player it still reads v1.00.16e. Do I need to remove or downgrade the original firmware before upgrading to US firmware? And if so, how do I do that?

Cheers, hopefully I'm not the only person with this problem.

I have this exact same issue. It seems like you can't remove the european version of the firmware to bypass the volume restriction making the mp3 player pretty useless.

When entering Recovery Mode there isn't even an option to reload your firmware. All it says is ;
  1. Clean Up
  2. Format All
  3. Reboot

This is really driving nuts. If someone was able to resolve this, please help us.
