A new (media player)/something called Z² is being introduced to the US?

So why could this fly under the radar for so long and not get picked up by any gadget site first? mysterious.

anyone have ideas what this is?

...and for less "green" too? i'm getting all mushy in the brain and sweaty in the hands just thinking about an 32+ GB Android Cowon PMP for 150 bucks.

Is it just me or does it look like that rectangle on the back is a clip? If so wouldn't that defeat the "unibody construction?"

Hmm, based upon my math, it should be a 5 inch screen.

It's about 12 cm by 6 cm. So then you can use that to get the dlength of the line from one corner to the next. 12 squared plus 6 squared gives you 144+36=180.

Square root that and you get 13.4 cm across the diagonal of the screen.

Convert that to inches and you get just about 5.2 inches. Take a bit of that off for the bezel and you get 5 inches.

Unless I've magically screwed up the whole thing, because I did fail high school math several times...

But still, 5 inches is the norm for small tablets.

"Z2" looks like an answer to Sony's Android-based Z1000 series, and sized to answer Samsung's Galaxy 5.0 WiFi.

No clip that I see and per the label your right about the 1 piece body. Should be interesting to see what comes but not enough info yet to make a solid guess.

A correctly done Cowon Android device has me excited! I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one,... ANDROID w/a slammin' EQ - EXCELLENT!!! But it needs full market access or its a waste,...and without the "slow".

Let's hope they learn from the D3.

Strangely, some of the words they use to describe it ("unibody, extreme simplicity", etc.) just makes me think about Apple products...

By the time it shows up the competition will be sporting Tegra 3s, screens with higher resolution than your PC monitor, and batteries that last 16 hours with WiFi on. Something about the D3 and Cowon makes me think the new one will come out (next year) with this year's specs.

Dimensions are close from the Plenue D3. I'll bet for a ~4.3" screen (max...).
I hope it would be a bit more than an updated D3 with a Telechips TCC880x , 512MB RAM and 35 hours of music with one charge fitted into an unibody cover.

and yet they can only fit a 3.7"?
it's not the screen size i'm mad about, it's the footprint.

all i want is a good android mp3 player. just one.

3.7-4" GOOD screen (but smallish overall footprint)
