MicroSD card files not showing on Clip Zip

Just got 3 clip zips and 3 16 GB microSD cards for them (for Xmas presents).

Getting them ready for the non-tech savvy recipients and going to put a few files on them. I added new files to the cards, but they dont seem to register on the clip zip. When I click on the "info" section in System Settings it shows the card size and the lower available amount of space, indicating the files are on there, but when I click on external card in the folder section or the card section it comes up empty.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps some more info such as folder structure and file suffix (ie mp3, mp4, m4a)? How were they copied to the player? Can the files be seen and played from Windows Explorer? Which USB setting are you using for the Zips (MSC, MTP or Autodetect)?

Make sure the setting in File View>Show Files is "All".

1. Can you see the files on the on-board memory?
2. Did you first format the card? I use the SD Associations format tool here.
3. Are your tags in order? I use Mp3Tag a free tag editor which works great.

When I said they were for non-tech savvy recipients I should have said only slightly less tech savvy than me but I try...

FreeZ5 : I dont really know about folders they were MP3 and WAV files dragged and dropped from an external hard drive. The files can be seen and played off the external HD but not clip. I am using MSC setting.

Skip: I am not real sure where to find Find View>Show Files. I apologize for my incompetence...

WalkGood :I can see files that I put in the on board memory there but not files from the card.
I dont have a card reader in my tower, can it be formatted through the clip?
I'm not really up to speed with tags, will investigate further.
The card is a c2 Sandisk 16GB.

You can change which files are viewed with

Settings=>General Settings=>File View=>All

I was wondering if made the change to MSC mode before you transferred the files. If not they wouldn't be visible in the file browser but the space the used would be reflected in the Rockbox Info screen and they would show in the Database screen once that was initialized.

I have just realized that I have posted this in the rockbox section, my clip is not rockboxed (feeling even stupider now than before). I changed to MSC before adding files.
