Default USB Functionality in Rockbox

I have Rockbox installed on my e260, and it seems to be working fine (at least all the things they have working so far). I have not read any posts on this so I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this same thing. When I boot into Rockbox and plug in the USB cable, I get the USB icon, but my computer does not do anything. Is it supposed to appear as a mass storage device, or is this feature not working yet? If I boot into the SanDisk firmware, I can use it as a mass storage device just fine. If anyone can help me out here, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Currently rockbox only recognizes that usb has been plugged in and nothing more.

More info here:

Thanks. I wondered about that. I'll just have to use the SanDisk firmware for now. I am really looking forward to using RockBox though. Once it is to the point that it can actually play music (and load music on the device) I will probably not go back to the other firmware again.

One thing that I had thought of (this probably should be a new topic, but oh well) is that RockBox gets updated really frequently. I am going to be wanting to update my Sansa as new builds come out. Do I just need to replace the contents of the .rockbox folder, or do I need to do something else special? Also, where should I be looking for RockBox updates for the Sansa? The guys over at the RockBox forums are pretty defensive of their "developer" thread, and rightly so. I hope these forums are a good place for asking questions. I have been watching RockBox for a while now, but I am still pretty new. Thanks!

Normally all you will need to do is update the .rockbox folder and rockbox.e200.

As for the USB, it will probably take a long time before there is USB support in Rockbox - there is a lot of work to do.

There's another site devoted to Sansa only. This site blocks their competition's name so figure it out.

That censor is workin' overtime. String together *** and the word *** and then dot com. Let's see if this slides through.

BillW, care to be banned?

The filter is here for a reason... as you demonstrated very well with your spamming.

its not a matter of blocking competition. it is a matter of blocking spam from that forum.

The site would have never been banned if the admin would have showed some manners. If you look there are links to many other forums here... there is a distinct difference in posting relevant links and posting links to advertise other forums.

So....anyway, kind of getting back to my question...is there a certain site we should be checking for updates on the Sansa version?

Rockbox.org should have all the relevant info.

BillW, you really suck at spamming. You're still young, grasshopper. Come back once you've learnt the ways...

or not.

Updating Rockbox usually just means extracting the newest rockbox.zip to your player (rockbox.e200 and the .rockbox folder).

It should be very very rare that you need a new version of the MI4 file.
